LTF, I think you are misinterpreting what ZS is saying. I dont think he means that Randy Moss was the best in 2006, I think his point is that he has been the best the last 3 seasons, so it was a mistake as he is a lot better than Jennings and Driver.

Dont go by what you know NOW have to look at it back then

No one else was in the running to nab him..

True about what RedSox said. Belichick is an evil genius. He knows what he's doing. He saw the talent in Wes Welker where nobody really wanted him (including Miami). He saw it in Moss as well.

People talk and I'm sure we knew Belichick was up to trying to get Randy.

The other thing, even in 2006, the last 4 years, he had 41 TDs. The guy's a TD machine. He had only one bad year and that was 2006 and let's be real, the 2006 Raiders were 2-14 for a reason. They sucked. They had the worst O in the NFL. Can you name either of their starting QBs from '06? No peeking.

There's a good shot that it wasn't Randy on the decline, but Randy on a pathetic O that couldn't get the ball to him. Belichick knew it was the latter.

You're both damning Thompson for making the effort but losing out, He's even stated that he expected to get Moss the night before the draft but NE came in with a better offer and the deal was done.

Time to move on.

I like TT. I am a Ted Thompson fan. But that doesn't change the fact that Ted Thompson failed to get the job done on this one occasion. That doesn't damn him. That makes him human. We all make mistakes. TT's biggest mistakes were failing to close the deal with Randy Moss and drafting Bustin.

I think we can safely put Ted Thompson in the top 10 for GMs and possibly even in the top 5. So I'm far from a Ted Thompson hater.

As for Moss quitting on his team, I think the whole team quit that year. Morale was horrible. Maybe I know about it more than you being here in SF. Everyone here hates Al Davis and even non-Raider fans pity Raider fans because we know just how bad morale got after Gruden left.

It hasn't recovered and won't recover until Davis leaves or dies. The whole team is walking on eggshells. Not excusing Moss, but just saying I could understand how he felt in 2006.

NE sports radio DJs rant like CRAZY about Moss lately. I honestly don't know what set them off, but he has practically become their next Manny. I'm happy with our receiving corps.

Moss is/was/still is a head case.
I'm not mad he didn't come here.
And like was said, over and over and over again. We thought he was coming here, we got "blindsided".
Not the Packers office fault.

I'm with RedSox here. He's Randy Moss. Randy Moss is the best WR today. The best. No, not the second best. The best.

Jennings is on the low end of the top 10. Driver is in the middle, around #16. Randy Moss is #1.

He's not only #1, he's the best WR since Jerry Rice. When Moss retires, he will be #2 in every important WR category, except for one where he's #1. That is TDs in a season. He's got 23.

The whole thing about getting Randy Moss is a "he said, she said" argument. Nobody knows. Everything we're hearing is one person's side of the story, which conflicts with the next guy.

It didn't happen. That sucks.

Mass - And Jerry Rice wasn't a jump baller like Fitzgerald or Javon Walker was. There's no such thing as a perfect WR.

You play to your strengths for what you have. Moss will get you more yards and more TDs than the guy you have. He's just better. Not just a deep threat though. A lot of people like to dismiss him as such. He's going to burn your CBs on shorter routes as well. He's simply tough to cover. Too tall, too fast.
