Jenkins has said he will play, and i dont really see why they wouldn't play him as he was back in and productive with the cast on. Having a cast isn't the worst thing in the world for a DE.

It just might be for someone who relies on using his hands to get past D-linemen, and for someone who hasn't exactly built up a reputation as a solid wrap-up tackler.

Let's remember, he suffered multiple fractures in that left arm.... he may have the cast on but no doubt he will be in discomfort.

Cullen can still be of major use in providing a pass-rush, but I wonder how much success he will have actually being able to sack the QB.

If he's going to play, I would hope that we sit him if we build a decent lead. It's got to hurt like hell banging a busted hand on people.

OUCH!!!

Give him as much non-contact time possible so that's he's as good as he can be when we really need him.

Hurries and hits are just as important as sacks. I think what will be concerning is if teams run at him. They most certainly will giving their other option is Ryan Pickett. But he'll have to hold his own in the running game and let the LBs make plays that he normally would've made himself. Gap control is now real important. Then again, it always is, but takes on a whole new meaning now.

*sigh*

Laurence Maroney and Adewale Ogunleye both changed teams in the last 12 hours...

and we're getting Jarius Wynn and Dimitri Nance...

Jus' sayin'...

You made a post, you don't need to say you're just saying. Do you think we're stupid? We see your name tied to your comment, so, yes, obviously, you're just saying.

Two people in five minutes, wow.

Back to non lame stuff, I don't think Maroney was worth the draft pick. Wasn't it Maroney plus a 6th for their 4th?

Bears didn't want Adewale and have a worse rush than we do. I don't think he was the answer either.

The real point that you raise is are they better than what we picked up? I won't argue that because I agree, but the risk/reward is not as high.

Z2C, when I typed "Jus' sayin'", it should have been obvious that I meant,

"While I am a committed and ofttimes outspoken supporter of Ted Thompson, sometimes I wish he were a little less frugal with money and draft picks, and a little more receptive to the concepts of player trades and free agency."

Not my fault you didn't get it. Sheesh.

Anyway, yes; that was my point. If we were destined to suck this year, then I wouldn't have any problem, really, with bringing in developmental guys. But, here we sit, one of maybe a half-dozen teams with realistic Superbowl aspirations; and we just lost our starting running back and a big piece of our d-line rotation. And these are the replacements? Our depth isn't that good.

I'm glad we don't have a knee-jerk, panic-driven GM, but I'm just a little disappointed that we didn't do more. I'll bet we could have traded Bishop (or Hawk) for a quality player...

I dont think this guy is a good pickup - like others have said. A 'decent'
4-3 end. But definately not a 3-4 end.

The dude is too small for what we need in a 3-4 DE. We need a big strong and or fat dude to take up space and push the pocket. This guy is too light and hes never shown the ability to push the pocket much as a 3-4 guy.

If I were the packers Id overpay some dude to play the end for us.

Uh, yes, it is, since I didn't get it either. It's always incumbent upon the writer to make his meaning clear, unless you're writing ambiguous esoterica that's meant to be "interpreted" in literature class.

Adewale Ogunleye to me would be a poor fit in the 3-4.. Thomas to me would have made more sense.

But on Wynn.. he has a year under his belt already in Dom's system and as much as people want to belittle him, he was just a rookie last season and flashed a couple of times.. really not any less flashes in a single year than the guy he is going to replace flashed in games over a couple of season due to injury.

To that point, we need someone that can step in now with Harrell out and Jenkins a possible question mark in how much he can give us over the next couple of weeks.

That doesn't mean we should be content with the bottom of the roster in terms of depth or situational players.. cough punt returners... but I understand bringing in an experienced guy on the defensive line that can be inserted ASAP without having to be spoon fed the callouts and scheme on the fly.

At running back, we have experience in Jackson and power in Kuhn.. and Starks possibly hitting the roster in 5 weeks.. so it makes some sense to add a low budget possible diamond in the rough type that can line up and tote the rock in a pinch. I highly doubt he will be placed into the passing game or be given a blitz pickup read any time soon.

If he has to go into the game, any passes more than likely will be quick hot reads or Kuhn/Hall/Johnson/Jackson will be put into the role.

Keeping legs fresh and an emergency fill in is how I view the Nance add at this point.

I think B-Jax will be the starter with Nance getting a couple carries on 1st and 2nd downs. On 3rd down I think we'll keep B-Jax or Kuhn back there until Nance knows the playbook and can be relied on to pick up blitzes.

I'm fine with picking up Nance instead of these retread RBs available. Also, as others have said now is a terrible time to make a trade. Every team is still thinking playoffs are a possibility, we need to wait a few weeks for some teams to kick in the bucket and drop their asking price on some of these RBs.

Zero2Cool (23-Jul) : Suppose if locker room is main issue, we sitting pretty
wpr (23-Jul) : I thought so Mucky. In those useless player polls GB always rates high overall. Locker is a part of it.
