Roger Huerta's Brutal Street Fight Video Proves Chivalry is Not Dead

On TMZ television Wednesday, a segment was presented showing a disturbing video shot in Austin, Texas, of former UFC fighter Roger Huerta engaged in a street fight with another man. The video shows why
Huerta engaged a man roughly twice his size: The larger man had punched a woman. Huerta is among the majority of men who apparently was taught -- and believes in enforcing -- to never hit a woman. After some moving about, the video shows Roger Huerta kicking the other man, apparently already having beaten him to the ground. By Thursday, the TMZ-obtained video of Huerta's street fight had gone viral.

Like many fights, it began over a girl. But, in this instance, Roger Huerta stepped in after a huge African-American male enters the video and punches a young woman in the face, knocking her to the ground. Huerta is heard on the video yelling, "You just punched a f**kin' girl!"

The other guy, wary now, steps away from the confrontational Huerta. The TMZ video shows the two squaring off, then a shirtless Huerta, nicknamed "El Matador" in mixed martial arts competitions, charges the much larger man. The crowd in the video surges, obscuring the street fight. When next there is a clear view of Huerta and the fellow street fighter, Huerta is standing over the man, kicking him in the head.

According to CBS News, police were called to the scene but no arrests were made at the time. However, police reportedly may make arrests based on the video evidence.

Why would Austin Police look into arresting anyone? The video shows a large man assaulting a woman, then it shows two men, one of whom is the same male who assaulted the young woman, set to fight. Then, seconds later, the smaller male, identified as former UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) lightweight fighter Roger Huerta, is seen driving a full-on stomp to the head of the downed attacker. The assaulting male will most likely be arrested for his sudden attack on the female. Huerta may face charges as well, given the videotaped evidence and depending on local laws regarding street fighting and assaults. The TMZ -obtained video capture of Huerta kicking the man when he was down may prove problematic.

The good news regarding the Roger Huerta street fight is that chivalry does not appear to be dead. Although the former UFC fighter (he now fights for Bellator Fighting Championships) may face charges, he defended the honor of the attacked woman. It is likely something that the attacker will not forget anytime soon. And, if he does, there's a video of the street fight to remind him of a prevalent social maxim: never hit a woman.

Roger Huerta Caught on Tape in Street Fight

Roger Huerta knocked out an attacker in a street fight outside of a bar in Austin, Texas early Saturday morning, reports TMZ, which released footage of the confrontation and aftermath of the scuffle.

In the video, Huerta confronts an attacker after watching the attacker knock out a female. A friend of Huerta's is seen rushing over and yelling, "Roger!" in an effort to stop Huerta from engaging, but Huerta chases after the attacker and leaves him laid out on the ground.

Huerta could presumably be facing potential criminal charges for his actions, but according to TMZ, no arrests have so far been made.

When Huerta's manager was reached for comment, he told TMZ, "I have not spoken to Roger yet about this incident, but I can say that it's in his nature to be very protective of women."

Looking at Huerta's childhood past, it shouldn't necessarily come as a surprise that Huerta would become instantly emotional after witnessing a violent act towards a woman. Huerta faced abuse from his mother growing up and was eventually abandoned by his mother. Huerta didn't begin experiencing positive family life until high school when a friend's mother took legal custody of him.

UFC president Dana White has also commented on the situation, telling TMZ, "In no way do I condone street fighting, but when a guy puts his hands on a woman he deserves to be knocked the f*ck out. Good for Roger."

This street fight could further cloud his already uncertain fight career following his surprising loss in May to Pat Curran in Bellator's lightweight tournament semifinals. After the loss, Huerta spoke of possibly fighting in Dream or K-1 with Bellator's permission, but nothing yet has come out of it.

That big guy deserved everything he got.

Also would like to add how surprised I am at people that just stood there and didn't do shit after he knocked that girl out. They all deserved to get a curb stomping as well, IMO.

That guy was HUGE! I can see why no one went after him, except a guy that KNEW he could beat his sorry ass. If i went up against the punk, i'd be killed.

He got what he deserved! If he did this once, you can bet he does it often.

After Roger leveled dude, its funny how then you see four guys get big muscles and want to get in dudes face as he lays there on the ground.

Big props to Roger. Dude was twice his size and he flattened him. I hope he doesn't get charged. I think the foot stomp was over the top, but you never hit a woman, never. I mean, that dude was twice the size of Roger, and the girl he punched out. WTF! Grow a pair of testicles you coward.

Don't be so sure. Many guys I've beat were far bigger than me. Most of them get over confident and get sloppy. Plus, take anyone out at the knee's, they are human.

And if you watch the video, some guy comes flying in and he takes a swing and misses terribly. Why? Because he ducks afraid to get hit. He should have kept his head up and focused his swing on the attacker. But what you expect from a coward who hits a woman?

Formo, never be surprised. It's called the Bystander Effect, and it's a very well documented and unfortunate aspect of human nature.

I understand where you come from. I've never let size determine how I roll, though. See, my point was I was raised to 'fight fair'. Thing is.. the world isn't fair. I could go one on one against a dude that was trained. Any bystander could tell you that's a fair fight.. but it isn't. I haven't a lick of training. So, that being the case, I never get into fights. Not unless it serves as protection or for the 'honor' of a loved one. In which case, I'll do whatever it takes and then some to guarantee that I'll be the guy that WALKS away from the fight. Even if that means the other guy is in an ambulance.

Long story short, if I were one of the bystanders.. and looking at the size of the punk that KO'd that young lady.. I would not have hesitated to use a tire iron or something else to 'even' the odds a bit. Don't want to loose your kneecaps? Don't punch a woman.
