Everyone knows this game, right? One person yells Marco and then someone across the room yells Polo, and it goes on and on. Last Saturday evening up at Glacier Park we got this game going in full and even changed some of the rules.
We were sitting on some benches in front of Lake McDonald Lodge with our clan and the Czech family and son-in-law- Jerry says "let's start Marco Polo and show these folks a real American game." So Jerry yells out "MARCO" and waits about 5 seconds and back comes "POLO" from about 50 yards down the beachfront. Of course this continues now that the ice is broken and everyone is laughing and wondering where the next Marco and Polo is going to come from.
Just as the sun is setting the Lake McDonald cruise boat is coming in from it's last run with about 75 people on board. Sure enough, about 100 yards out comes ......."MARCO"....................... and someone on shore yells back, POLO.
Then I decide to see if everyone, (most whom we can't see now in the dusk/darkness) will pick up on what I yell out.
So,...."PAMELA"..............................yep, down on the dock comes "ANDERSON." This went on for about 15 minutes and we had names of people I never heard of. Even the Czech family got into it. Father yells, "IVAN" and dead silence until his son yells, "Stepanovich." Who???????
Dad explains: "He's our drunken neighbor back home. Got his butt thrown in jail just before we came here, for public drunkenness and indecent exposure."
Gotta love those Czechs.
Anyone for a Weenie Roast?
