WESTON (WAOW)-- We're excited to announce this year's Extreme Yard Makeover winner.
They're a couple from Weston, who's home projects kept getting delayed due to deployments with the Wisconsin Army National Guard.
This morning we introduce you to Canaan & Jodi Heil, as we embark on the transformation of their yard.
After Canaan's first tour of duty in Afghanistan, he returned back to the states and purchased this home 3 years ago with his wife, Jodi.
Like any new homeowner, this Weston couple had lots of home projects on their agenda.
In the summer of 2009, Canaan and Jodi planned to tackle yard work, but a notice came at the end of 2008, saying Canaan would be deployed once again this time to Iraq.
Jodi says, "... we have our deck in the back it is falling apart, it's not unusable.. and then I like flowers and stuff like that... and there's nothing out there so that was one of our big projects we we're going to do, and saving up to do."
This news put their plans on hold, but, 2010 has had it's fair share of excitement.
Canaan returned home in January, and in March the couple learned their first child was on the way.
James Merritt, owner of Living Color Landscape, says, "... it's a blank canvas and the possibilities are endless... we're going to sit down with the homeowners and get their wish list and make them come true."
The project is expected to wrap up at the end of July, and everyone involved is happy to show their thanks to a man, and a family... for their service to our country.
Merritt says, "... Kaynin served us all... and put it on the line for all of us and here we are sitting comfortably in Central Wisconsin and it's kind of awesome to give him something and pay him back."
Thanks so much to everyone who entered a nomination and voted on our web site.
Throughout the makeover, which is worth up to $25,000, we'll show you the progress from start to finish.
