Why waste a pick on a Kicker? I'm telling you, Crosby isn't that bad.

Let's reverse this. Let's put Crosby on a team with ideal conditions. Several of us have already said the argument about how GB is a lousy place for Kickers.

I bet Crosby would be middle of the road or maybe slightly better than middle of the road.

Of course ideally, would have preferred to go back and time and kept Longwell.

Zero - as for Cliffy and Tausch, I agree with Nonstop. They're both getting old and are both injury prone. Thanks for the many years of good performance. Yes. But I'm really weary of even the near future with both of them.

Let's look at the top 5 Kickers in the NFL by FG %:
Neil Rackers ARI - easy place to kick
Ryan Longwell MIN - dome
Olindo Mare SEA - dome
Nate Kaeding SDG - California
Sebastian Janikowski OAK - California

Let me tell you about California weather. People who live here who don't ski or snowboard probably have NEVER seen snow in their lives. Because it doesn't snow. Weather is mild year round. At worst, it rains.

Arizona, Minnesota, and Seattle are domed stadiums.

I really think Kicking is overrated. There really isn't that much of a difference between Kickers. Seriously. There's not.

Before the draft, I wanted to see 2 OL drafted, a OLB, a CB, and a S, and ideally someone who can return kicks/punts. We got 2 OL, 2 DL, a S, and a RB. Close to what I wanted.

I would have been pissed if we wasted a draft pick on a K, P, or a QB. We had legitimate needs and I think Ted Thompson addressed them.

Gotta agree with the article for the most part, except for the Harrell. I totally agree he is one injury or one major setback away from being cut, but as for now they will have a spot set aside to try to him to deliver the most expensive sack in franchise history.

But Crosby was shanking them in good weather too and in domes. 😞

Crosby lost a lot of his confidence the past season.

How he goes this season will be dependent on how strong his mental resolve is - the coaches have given him every chance to succeed and bounce back, he has to make the most of it.

Because he can certainly do it. He's just in a bad slump.

(But then, Janikowski went 67% a few years ago and something like 88% the previous season).

4 dome games, 7 of 8 87.5 %
4 away outside games, 3 of 6 50.0 %
8 home games, 17 of 22 77.3 %

First 8 games, under 49 he was pretty damn spot on. Only missed once. Then .... fooooosh down hill ............
