It's not the song that does it, but the delivery. Packer fans couldn't pull that off in Lambeau. The song itself is from a Broadway musical, and the version they are singing is a 1960's pop rock hit recorded by some of their local Liverpool pop stars, Gerry and the Pacemakers. It's about as "tough" as the Righteous Brothers song that Patrick Swayze slowdanced to in "Ghost".

Face it. The Green Bay Packers are the most storied and historically great team in the National Football League.

Their Fandom is legendary, the wait list for season tickets, the small town appeal, the game day experience, the Packer Hall Of Fame in the venue. The green and gold that is entrenched in every bar, restaurant, motel, hotel, fast food joint, every corner store, every home basement, every child's lunch box from the past makes Green bay special and unique.

BUT... I have to tell you.

"GO PACK GO" Is weak as a fan chant on game day. It does not do the Packer fans justice.

When I took the tour, the guide got us all to chant "GO PACK GO." in an empty Lambeau Field even there were only 29 of us in the tour. That was the weakest, and most uncomfortable moment of the tour.

Make me director of Game Day Experience. I would make it special. make a blast, make it something that every in-coming team would cringe at. There is no reason that Lambeau could not be that place.

I would love to see the Packer Faith full break into a chant like this... This is true fan support and love.

In my humble opinion... The Weak "Go Pack Go" Chant is not near where the Packer Game Day Experience Could Be with coaching from the team on how to motivate the players on the field.

Lambeau really could be a special and unique experience beyond what it already is with some thing special, beyond "GO PACK GO."

There's no goalkeeper in sight when they sing "You never walk alone", though. It's awesome, but it doesn't reach those proportions during a game.

Let me say this, though. I hate the national anthem in most NA sports. I always see the audience being quiet while some star sings it. Why is that not something that the entire crowd does? Nearly everyone knows their national anthem, I asume. And little's as imposing and awesome as hearing an entire stadium sing an anthem. It sends chills down my spine and makes my eyes water. It really does.

I'd like to return to the days where we never lose at Lambeau.

Soccer teams definitely have a leg up in the chant arena, but watching the game is also startlingly boring so they have to fill up the time with something.

I'm just saying, any sport in which the players look surprised when they score needs a redesign. I'm looking at you soccer/hockey.

"A modest proposal: Make the nets bigger." -Dan Rydell, Sports Night

In all seriousness though, "GO PACK GO" just works. It's simple and to the point, it has a nice rhythm to it. Of course it's going to suck when you're on a tour with a few other people. It gets its power from thousands of Packers fans freezing their asses off and cheering for their team together.

(please note the extreme sarcasm of the first half this post. I'm down with all other sports. just poking fun)

Or smaller with no goalie... Like basketball.

What I miss is the good old days:

1928 - 2-2-2 home record
1929 - 5-0-0 home record
1930 - 6-0-0 home record
1931 - 8-0-0 home record
1932 - 5-0-1 home record
1933 - 3-2-1 home record

Now that is a sustained period of home domination that has never been equaled.
