Bill Polian, Indianapolis: I am absolutely not sold on him as a left tackle. I may be the Lone Ranger in the building. I think hes a right tackle or a guard. I dont dislike him. I just dont see him as a left tackle. I see too much lack of range. Hed probably be a great guard.
Mark Dominik, Tampa Bay: "Like him. He's safe and consistent. Safe is probably the word you're going to get from a lot of people."
NFC scout: "Technically, I think he can play left tackle. He's solid. He's not pretty."
AFC scout: "He's a safe pick. He would be a good left tackle. I don't ever see him being very good."
NFC scout: "I don't care about that (hand size and arm length). At left tackle, I see that. But I don't think Bulaga is a left tackle. I think he's a right tackle or a guard. Just a good football player."
NFC scout: "Better right tackle."
AFC scout: "He was all right on tape. Nothing exceptional. I have my doubts."
AFC scout: "He reminds me of (Jon) Stinchcomb. Really nice feet and movement, but he's soft. High pad level. He gets pushed around. His workout was not good. I thought he would be a better athlete than he is. Robert Gallery was supposed to be the greatest of all time. He is not supposed to be as good as Gallery. I think he will be (a bust). The thing that will keep going is he's smart. He's not tough. He's not a run blocker."
AFC scout: "He could go anywhere from 4 to 15. He's Mr. Safe. Hit the single up the middle. Know what I mean? His talent level is not anywhere near that but he's a good kid and he's clean. He's just a safe pick. He's never going to be a great player. He will be a solid, tough player. Somewhat athletic. Smart. Kirk Ferentz has a lot of friends around the NFL."
Johnny Meads, Tennessee: "He's fully ready out of Ferentz's offense. He got outplayed by O'Brien Schofield."
Rick Reiprish, New Orleans: "Good player. He's just a little bit below those top guys overall athletically. I think he can (play left tackle)."
AFC scout: "He might be the most polished and most consistent tackle."
NFC scout: "He's a right tackle. He's not a great athlete. He's competitive. He's smart. Just not an explosive guy. He's not a top-notch athlete. He reminds me of Dave Diehl. He's a hard-nosed guy, all that stuff. He lacks top right-tackle power. Solid."
NFC scout: "He's Jeff Backus but not as polished. Backus isn't very long-armed but it doesn't preclude him from playing left tackle in the league, which he has done very efficiently. Chris Doyle at Iowa is arguably the best strength coach in the Big Ten. Those kids are always well-prepared for the NFL."
Phil Savage, Philadelphia: "I thought he was a tad overrated. I saw him get beat by Brandon Graham, and Schofield killed him."
AFC scout: "Good player. I don't know if he can play left tackle. Only thing I worry about is quickness to cover that. There's guys not as good as him playing left tackle. I think he'd be a right tackle, but I'd start him out at left tackle. He went through a thing this year with a thyroid condition and they corrected that. I didn't see a lot of difference between him early and later. I don't see him high in the first."
A.J. Smith, San Diego: "He doesn't have any issues. We see him possibly as a right tackle. Maybe a guard. We like him. He's a football player and he's been well-coached. Anyone that comes out of Iowa is going to be held in another category with Kirk Ferentz. It's historical. It's true. It's valid. It helps tremendously. Now if you're not very good, it doesn't matter if Kirk Ferentz has got you or not. But if you are good and play the game right, we think he'll have a pretty good career."
AFC scout: "I like him over (Russell) Okung. More efficient."
NFC scout: "I thought he was a blue-collar guy. Typical Iowa lineman."
Eric DeCosta, Baltimore: "I think he's been a little overrated by people. I watch him play and I see nothing special. He has breakdowns. He doesn't always play as strong as you'd like. He doesn't always play as athletic as you'd like. The fact he played for Kirk Ferentz increases his value. I just don't see a guy that is dominating. He got beat. Graham beat him badly. Schofield beat him. You don't think of an elite player as being beatable."
