I hope he wears his Vikings jersey the day he goes in, for all the Packer fans that turned on him after he was escorted out of Green Bay.

What about the multitude of Packer Fans like you who still LOVE HIM? Who have un conditional love for their team, Brett, and all he did in Green and Gold.?

Do you really want to take that very special moment away from those Packer Fans so you could feel a little vindicated in your hate of Ted?

I think you are just kidding when you state you want him to go in wearing a Viking Jersey. However, I may be wrong.

Yet again I say: Packer fandom is not synonymous with Favre fandom. Favre annoys the shit out of me and has for years. I think the poetically perfect end to this whole silly saga would be for him to give his acceptance speech in purple. I don't see how the fact that I don't worship Favre or fawn on Jennings or mourn the loss of Kampman makes me less of a Packers fan, since the NFL is a team sport and I'm a fan of the team, not the players. Who we get on our team is largely a matter of the luck of the draw. Players aren't more special if they happen to play for us. Most of those same players would be hated by the members of this board if they happened to play for another team.

Let him take his accolades in whatever colors he pleases. After all, "he's earned the right to do what he wants," right?

Personally, the last couple of years.. probably this decade, I despised the weekly worship that was placed upon his feet.. much like I did towards the end of the Montana, Elway, Aikman, and Marino eras. Yet I didn't place my frustration towards Brett himself, more at the talking heads that were to lazy to look beyond the demigod that Brett was made out to be.

But, after reading your posts for a couple of years now.. I think, much like the Pro Favre club.. that you place your dislike directly upon the player and not the system, where they place their anger upon our front office alone or the ones they "think" turned on said player.

While I agree with your non-attachment to players as they come and go.. one should at the very least acknowledge the contributions each of these former players brought to the Packers, whether they annoyed you or not.

But each to their own.. I hold no ill will towards Brett what so ever.. regardless of him playing in purple.. the franchise moved on after he retired.. Brett moved on after it as well.. yet some fans still linger.

BTW... I hope we figuratively kick the Vikings collective nuts down their throats this season.. Favre included. 😉

Why do you assume that fans who supposedly "turned on him" would care one bit if he did that? Wouldn't that make them happy? I know I certainly wouldn't mind if he wore purple at his HoF deal.

To some extent you're right, it was the hype. However, he struck me as someone who carefully exploited it behind the scenes -- or at least as someone who was handled by someone who was doing so. The "Aw, shucks" demeanor didn't work for me.

But that was only part of the issue. His refusal to protect the football, his propensity to melt down in stressful situations, was what caused me to lose patience with him. That he saved the lowest-interception performance of his career for the Vikings doesn't contribute to his mystique for me. It kind of offends me. Why couldn't he have behaved himself in the years he was in Green Bay?

That statement right there should be enough to soften VR's heart towards good ol' Brett. 🙂

RP I could really careless what he wears, I would almost bet he will show up in his wrangler jeans and a t-shirt lol. Time heal all wounds but I really don't see Favre coming back to Green Bay anytime soon after he finally does retire for good (hell by that time the Packers might have moved out of town lol). He has hatred towards Ted Thompson and thats plain to see.

As far as his great year last year was mainly because he felt he had something to prove and I think we will see a drop off this year. Just like Jordon did when he retired and came back to win 3 titles he had something to prove. I still believe if the Packers wouldn't have traded Favre he would have called it quits after that year.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)
