Report: Cardinals want a third-round pick for Boldin

We're stacked at the position, but damn! Can he return kicks!?

Yeah but doesn't he want a contract bigger than Jennings? ... and he wants playing time... it's a good deal IMO for a team in need of a starting WR... but with Driver and Jennings as starters... and hopefully Jones or Nelson stepping up... I don't think it's a good deal as the Packers will have to pay him a lot of money or they get a one year WR for a 3rd...

For 30 teams in the league, that's one hell of a deal. But really? Jennings, Driver, Jones, Nelson, Boldin? Wouldn't that be a bit of a luxury on one position.

We're going with Golden Tate, anyway.

But you're right. There's no reason at all to add Boldin to our team, imo. He's a 29 year old player who's looking for his last big pay day. We'd have tons of money invested in the WR position, while we have one of the best groups, already.

And looking at our receiving core as a whole, we also have Finley who'emerging. That gives you another potential 1000 yard receiver. We really don't need him.

If we needed a WR.. this would be of huge consideration.. the guy is a gamer.

But how would he fit in and what would be the fallout in the locker room for not only his contract but his catches as well.

Rock - I would love Tate in Green Bay.. let him tutor under Driver for a year or two and then slide into the regular rotation when Driver exits or his game diminishes.

All Tate did in college was make plays.. they knock him for his size.. his speed before the combine.. this or that.. he played for Notre Dame.. blah blah blah... the kid just made plays.. and that is never a bad thing.

I am shocked that Boldin is 29 already.

If I was the Bears, I'd be all over him.

I'm not saying I'd be all about this, but trading Driver for a 4-5th and then sending our 3rd to the Cardinals for Boldin? Get a younger player at about the same skill level or better and get an extra 4th-5th to perhaps package to move back up into the 3rd if need be, as well as negating some of the money tied up in our WR rotation. Hmm?

However, I know this deal will never happen. There will be other teams out there such as the Ravens that will be MUCH more willing to give up at least a 3rd for him. It's still interesting to think about though, especially while wasting time at the office!

What about Finley?

If we get Boldin, I say we ship Nelson or Jones for a 1st and a entire starting OL. 🙂

No way Ted Thompson could ever trade DD. Not after what happened a couple summers ago. And what's happening now with Kampman.
That said, can Boldin return punts?
