http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/Wilson-Dunta-Robinson-to-hit-free-agency.html

If he hits the market, as appears very likely with no tag and no deal, he would be a great #2 to pair with Chuck.

We'd then be able to give Al Harris the time needed to recover fully and keep the emerging but still unpolished Tramon as nickel back.

After that we have a lot of hope but nothing we can rely on with Lee, Blackmon, Underwood, Bell et al.

Our pass D was an issue last year, Robinson would go a long way to help fix that.

IMO... The need for another quality safety outweighs the need for another corner... not that adding a veteran corner would hurt.. not at all.

In our addition at safety.. IMO, we need a guy the has just as much upstairs in the reading and COMMUNICATING with the rest of the secondary.. too many times we seen breakdowns in communication of whom has what responsibility than a pro team should..

For as much of a talented guy that Collins is.. I don't think the above is his strong suit... same with Bigby.

That being said.. would I like a talent like Robinson on the Packers.. hell yes.. but can we really afford that much payroll on corners.. remember Williams need to be secured for the long term sooner or later.

All good points. We're in need of Safety depth as well. (I would hope we'd go after Antrel Rolle (also 27) if he's cut by the Cards).

Dunta is going to command top dollar and I don't think Ted Thompson is going to be willing to pay it. I'd say try to ride the Bigby train one more year at SS and go after Dunta if the price is right.

as much as we need a safety (...and an LT, etc) I'm really starting to worry about what our defense will look like if we don't bring in another corner if AL isn't his old self. Charles and Tramon starting and then the crap behind them worries me severly. I would love to sign a good veteran corner.
BAD EMAIL because the address couldn ot be found, or is unable to receive mail.

I agree. I'm going into this off-season with the mentality that Harris will not be back in time and if he is will only be a nickel corner. So in my mind we still lack that #2 CB.

Remember the contract SF gave to Nate Clements? Robinson should come close. He's a No. 1 quality CB IMO. There aren't 32 better corners.

Ironically, it could be the same team that signs him. If they don't want to take a gamble in the draft, that is.

CB Dunta Robinson is available

And if you want to piss of Collins and Williams then pay him...

also Robinson just hasn't been the same since his injury and isn't as good as his hype... he still has the hype of how he played before the injury.

But I rather not piss off Collins and Williams.... if you wanna pay someone pay them...

If Harris doesn't come back to be a starter then Williams should be the starter...
