Another idea that I somewhat stole. GermanGilbert did something like this a year ago on a German NFL forum.

The idea is this. We'll have a draft. A 3 round draft, most likely, as anything after that is wild guesses and gets quite boring (I can imagine) for most people.

Everyone will be leading one team (or two, if there's a lack of sign-ups) and makes the draft picks and trades for that team.

We'll just keep the regular draft order, with the trades that have already been made.

We'll have to figure something out with the time of these trades and picks. If everyone just sends a pick in fast, we could do this entire thing in one night. If not, we could just go by posting your pick whenever you're on the clock and just wait till the next guy posts.

I know that it's a bit early, but I'd like to see who wants to join and who doesn't. And this gives people the chance to find out what their team needs and what player will go where.

If you want to join, just post a selection of 3 teams you'd like to control.

1. Green Bay Packers
2. Washington Redskins
3. Denver Broncos

For instance, I asume that a lot of people will have the Packers as their first choice (if people are in to this, of course), so I'll roll a virtual dice to decide who gets what team if there's a tie.

The 1st picked team always has priority over the 2nd picked team. So

1. Redskins
2. Broncos
3. Bears

would get Redskins if

1. Packers
2. Redskins
3. Lions

loses the roll for the Packers.

I hope that it's clear what I'm trying to do here. Just sent any questions my way.

I'll stay away from the Packers, in fact I'd like to pick for most of the terrible teams out there. It seems more fun that way.

1. Lions
2. Raiders
3. Browns
4. Rams

Bump.

I was thinking about doing something like this. We pick a night where we're all available. Join up in the gameday chat. There we'll talk and do all the trading etc. Then, when you've made your pick, you'll post it in a draft thread we'll make. Just a little something like this.

With the 23rd pick in the 2010 PackersHome draft, the Green Bay Packers select

Bryan Bulaga, OT, Iowa

(Picture)

(Maybe 2 sentences of motivation after that, nothing too long, as it shouldn't take 5 hours to do this thing).

With a bit of luck, we'll be through it fairly fast. We shouldn't need a complete 5 minutes on the clock. 30 seconds should be enough in most cases, I figure.

The hard thing would be finding a good day to do this thing. And, of course, getting enough sign-ups, as we're just with 5 guys right now.

A little math indicates that each guy would currently be responsible for 32/5 = 6.4 picks per round. Where is Solomon with his sword when you need him?

Ouch, that would be tough. I would prefer just two teams honestly. I'm not draft expert, I just know a decent bit about the players from the first round or so.

Hopefully more people will sign up!

That's why I made my second choice the Rams. That way I'm guaranteed to draft who I want to draft. šŸ˜ƒ
