Well, he does have a natural sort of nickname made to order: "Vlad the Impaler."

Watching a little Senior Bowl before I have to go to work.... Ducasse is getting his behind handed to him time after time when quicker DEs go to the inside. He keeps on overreaching on the outside.

Brandon Graham abused him when spinning inside. Ducasse got him when he went outside.

He got beat horribly at G, as well.

Iutapi is not getting beaten. He's strong. Haven't seen one DT push him back too far in pass blocking.

Got some holds on the quickers guys, though, according to Mike Mayock. You have to wonder how that'd turn out in a division with Kevin Williams and Tommie Harris.

Brandon Graham is an absolute beast, btw.

North Observations
Two days in and we already have someone whom should walk away from this week a clear cut winner. That's offensive lineman Mike Iupati of Idaho. He definitely looks the part at 6-5 and weighing in at 325, but it's his long arms and his ability to get them extended that has a lot of teams excited. Entering the week, he was a lesser known prospect, whom had some buzz with a strong bowl performance, but also was going up against inferior talent. Now, up against some of the best Seniors in the draft, he's been nothing short of superb, especially in one on one drills. The knock on him is whether or not he can convert to left tackle. If he can, he's probably a lock to go in the top 20, but even if he can't, enough teams are likely sold on him as one of the best guard prospects in recent memory.

Another North player helping himself is Boise State's corner Kyle Wilson. Wilson, while a little undersized, is very physical at the line of scrimmage and uses his hands well in press coverage. He has the best coverage skills of any corner at Mobile. He's positioning himself to be a potential first-round pick with his week.

Receiver Mardy Gilyard, tight end Ed Dickson and defensive end Brandon Graham are also players helping themselves that are worth mentioning. Graham, has an impressive first step out of his stance. His explosiveness will definitely entice teams picking in the latter half of the first-round. He'll get looks at outside linebacker in the 3-4 too, which can only bump up his value. Gilyard, has been impressive in handling press coverage, but his hands are going to turn some teams off. Still, I think he's making a push to be the No. 3 receiver in this draft. Dickson is proving to be one of the most athletic tight ends probably in this draft. He's been a matchup problem for several defensive backs. I think he's climbing draft boards with his current showing.

An interesting battle to who the best linebacker of the North squad is something that will probably be talked about more as the week goes on. Both Sean Weatherspoon and Daryl Washington impressed in one on one blocking drills versus runningbacks. Weatherspoon, particularly, plays with an aggressive style.

Quarterback Tony Pike, doesn't have a quick release and for someone his size, his arm isn't as strong as you'd hope for. He's had an up and down week. Offensive Lineman Sam Young and Zane Beadles seem to be hurting their stock. Young probably projects to be a right tackle, but even then, he's struggling especially against bull rushers. Beadles, has been overpowered on more than one occasion and will likely have a hard time matching up against some of the bigger interior defensive lineman in the NFL.

South Observations
Dexter McCluster is an all-purpose player that will fly up draft boards in the coming months. He reminds me of a lighter version of Minnesota's Percy Harvin. In fact, there basically the same player when you minus the weight difference. McCluster, will help some team as a receiver, return man, and he can lineup in the backfield. He's the most explosive player on either roster and I'm predicting he'll be the Senior Bowl MVP. I can't see him getting out of the 2nd round. He's too much of an asset.

Another player that has really stood out in my opinion is interior offensive lineman, Jeff Byers. The former Southern California Trojan, doesn't overwhelm anyone with his size, but he's been solid in one on ones and his technique is impressive. He'll get looks in a zone scheme, but at 6-3, his frame is big enough for him to bulk up. He's definitely going to be on a few teams' radar.

A player a lot of people were excited to see was Southern California safety, Taylor Mays. Mays, definitely looks the part, but he hasn't really stood out. He also could be liability in man to man coverage, as he doesn't look comfortable at all when lining up on a receiver. Still, he has all the tools to be an all-pro safety. Someone just needs to coach him up.

Louisiana State tackle, Ciron Black, was once considered a potential first-round pick, but his stock has dropped throughout the season. He's a big tackle and that's where he played in college, but I think his best spot might be inside at guard. His best asset is obviously his power and he might be able to utilize that better inside.

Terrence Cody of Alabama is big. How big? He's about 370. He's definitely a prototype 3-4 nose tackle, but his weight is going to turn a lot of teams off. He'll need to shed at least 20 pounds. Despite potential weight problems, I think at the very least, he's a second-round pick.

Tebow Watch
After a rough first day, according to many, Tebow seems to be settling in better. He's basically everything scouts figured he'd be, which isn't necessary a good thing though. Yes, you'll hear about how he has bad mechanics, questionable accuracy, and whether or not he can adjust to a pro offense. Yet, the talent is there. I think he's kind of got a "sneaky" strong arm and he definitely has the leadership qualities to play quarterback. People will nitpick him, but keep in mind, he's a major project and that's not a secret to anyone. He won't be an NFL starting quarterback for at least two years. His transition is going to take time, but that doesn't mean it can't be done.

Kyle Wilson and Devin McCourty have looked absolutely beastly so far. So has Iupati.

Mays' hasn't done well, I think he's more of a second round pick, but that's just because he's a physical freak.

Graham would be a VERY nice pick at 23.

I would definitely grab Mays if he is still there in the 2nd round....just wanted to put that out there.

And porky, I couldn't agree more with you about Dexter McCluster. I was watching him yesterday, and I couldn't stop saying that I want him to be wearing green and gold. I could see him being taken in the mid rounds. Maybe anywhere between 3-5, but I'm no draft expert, I just love talking about it.

North Observations
Most of the hype of the North has surrounded Idaho offensive lineman, Mike Iupati and rightfully so, but he's not the only North player that has solidified himself as a first-round pick. Michigan's Brandon Graham, has had an excellent week displaying great use of his hands at the line of scrimmage and a strong first step. His workout at the Combine will be something to watch as he proves he has the athleticism to possibly stand-up and play outside linebacker in a 3-4 defense. Watching him play, it's pretty clear that he'll be able to do so and it doesn't hurt that he's also stout against the run. I expect 3-4 teams to covet him and it'd be surprising if he's not a first-round pick.

Clemson receiver, Jacoby Ford is little standing only 5-9, but he's quick and solid running his routes. He got the best of Boise State corner, Kyle Wilson in man coverage by putting a move on him and streaking down the field. That's saying something because Wilson has played well enough all week where some may consider him a first-round pick.

Another defensive player standing out is safety Larry Asante. He's a big hitter and an intimidating presence playing in the back end of the secondary. Wisconsin tight end, Garrett Graham, came across the middle and Asante nailed him in his midsection sending him tumbling in the air.

South Observations
This might be breaking news to some, but Tim Tebow isn't the only quarterback playing for the South. Oklahoma State's Zac Robinson is arguably playing just as well as Tebow. Some would argue better. He may not have the physical talent that Tebow has, but he throws a nice ball and has been surprisingly pretty accurate. Like Tebow, he'll need to make adjustments to fit into a more pro offense, but he's off to a solid start.

Someone who stood out today possibly more than anyone else had to of been Miami tight end Jimmy Graham. The former basketball player, lacks experience playing football, but he has a ton of potential. He's got the athleticism to get down field and that was on display when he made a great catch in man coverage, while arguably being interfered with. Blocking is a huge question mark with him, but he answered the call. He looked solid in the blocking drill.

An intriguing player is Javier Arenas. A team may draft him as a return specialists, but he's trying to prove he can be a corner as well. He's done a nice job in coverage despite his size, but he's very aggressive with his hands. At times that's a great thing, as a lot of receivers hate when defensive backs have their hands all over them, but he also can get a bit "grabby". He could draw some flags in the NFL.

A battle of nose tackles from the SEC is brewing between Dan Williams and Terrance Cody. Although, I'm not sure it's much of a battle. Cody, clearly wasn't in football shape starting the week and he's slowly trying to catchup. Williams, on the other hand, has been very stout against the run and can disrupt the quarterback's pocket. Right now, Williams appears on his way to being the first nose tackle selected.

Tebow Watch
When you get around all the problems with Tim Tebow's mechanics, there is one thing that stands out. He throws one nice ball. His arm is definitely good enough for the NFL and his spiral is tight. I think he's improving day-to-day and that's a good sign. Teams want to see him improve and they definitely want to see him respond to coaching. All of those are things Tebow has done well. Normally, the game isn't near as important as practice, but for Tebow, he'll have a chance to show how much progress he's made in one week's time. If that proves to be a good amount, don't be shock to see him in the first-round.

NFP- Senior Bowl Countdown

Pretty good article, as it sort of sums up some of the questions that arose during practice.

No doubt the practices are more important than the game itself for NFL evals, but that doesn't mean the game isn't worth watching, not by a long shot, imo.

...And a big day for Tim Tebow, no doubt.

Don't forget that we have one more to pay attention to after this Senior Bowl.
From my thread about the bowl games, NFP---

Texas vs. the Nation will be played in El Paso, Texas, Feb. 6. This game is relatively young but has solidified itself as a legitimate platform for players to be evaluated. Every team will have at least one scout there, and the game is attracting some personnel directors as well. Of the 119 players who played in the game last year, 111 went on to sign NFL contracts.
