I was thinking about this lately, why do I click on the "predictions" or "picks" links on ESPN, CBS, etc. Is anyone else lately find themselves wondering whats the point?

I can understand why I click on analysis stuff because you know what they know more than me, so the "experts" give me some kind of insight but why do I even care who they pick because no one can predict anything. Your better off reading about a monkey spinning a wheel and picking a team.

But once again this week, I will click on the link for "predictions" or "picks". They know nothing more than us in terms of picking winners. A month ago it was a Colts v. Eagles/Saints SB, then 2 weeks ago it was a Packers v. Chargers, then a week ago it was Cowboys v. Chargers SB and now it will be a Jets v. Vikings SB or whatever. They just read into the media's hype.

Like I get they perceive the Vikings to have "stumbled in" (I don't think they did) but almost all these experts picked the Cowboys to beat the Vikings IN Minneapolis. Where they were 8-0 at home. 8-0!

Plus they all had the Jets being the "worst playoff team of the 12". And now they are picking the Jets to go the SB.

Why do we care as fans? I understand probalby most of you don't care, but I just can't stop myself from clicking on those stupid links. By giving them hits, I feel like I am encouraging their stupidity, lol. I really used to give these guys in the media more credit them they ever deserved I guess (my mistake I know).

I'm seeing a few coaches pick the Vikings.. but mainly because their defense matched up against the Saints offense is a better matchup than the Saints defense against the Vikes offense is. Make sense?

But, otherwise, from what I've seen, I'm still seeing a Saints v. Jets/Colts (the AFC seems to be more split) predicted Super Bowl.

I don't care. What I find funny, is when fans call someone a "dumbass" or a "hater" just because someone thinks their team is going to lose.

Unfortunately, a lot of players take it personally as well. There is nothing I hate more than a player using the "No one gave us any respect!" card after they win. Ben Roethlisberger said that once after a win. A game that there were FAVORED to win. But one person must have picked against them, so "NO ONE" gave them any respect.

I've always disliked Big Ben. I couldn't put my finger on it why.

Now, I think I remember and that's probably why I dislike him.

STFU, Ben R. Seriously. That sounds like something I said back in 2nd grade. When adults do it, it looks stupid.

As for the experts, they routinely get beaten by average Joe office worker week after week. I'm sure of the 20 or so people you work with, you probably have several ringers who routinely beat them year after year, but I guess don't have the image to be on TV.

I totally agree - while the 'experts' can give you an idea. I find it funny that the 2x 'all' the experts picked the pack winning this year they lost. ie the tampa game and the playoff game. 90%+ of the experts picked the pack winning and even when considering the spread most picked them to win also.

I picked (gambeled) games this year - and would take about 30 different expert opinions into consideration ... and ya their picks wernt any better then what I did. Tough part about betting is you got to deal with the spread - its not just picking the games (win or lose).

I ended up pretty much even this year (maybe slightly down (picked the chargers to win over the jets in the playoffs) ...

was pretty fun thou picking games ... basically only had 3 winning weeks and the rest I lost on (but because those 3 weeks I won a decent amout it worked out). I think what started it all is when I first started I didnt know how to bet and missed a 11/11 pick by one ...

oh - only do it with money you can afford to lose; I cant afford to lose anymore so Im done for this year ...
