Earlier this year there were rumors, more appropriately-dreamers, that thought we could trade A-Kamp for Joe Thomas.

Realistically, what would it take to get him? What should we be willing to pay?

Would a first round and A-Kamp do it, all our draft choices(ala Ditka), all our choices and A-Kamp? This is all hypothetical assuming Clevland played a 4-3 defense. We would have to over pay, just like free agency, but I believe that's the point we are at. We need key players, not a bunch of run of the mill players . We have that.

What are other possibilities?

I don't think there is much of anything short of a starting QB that would get any interest from them.

Cleveland plays a 3-4 defense, but with Holmgren there now there is talk of switching to a 4-3. If the do that, I can't think of a better guy to lead that change than Kampman. If they stay in a 3-4 though, I don't know if they'd do it. I'd like Kampman to play somewhere where he's comfortable in their scheme. I still think he has a lot he could do for the Packers. I'm not ready to let him go just yet.

Good point. Hadn't thought about that. Now remember Green Bay was 3-4 before Holmgren and switched after we got Reggie.

I did not know that. I think at that time I was too young and didn't know about schemes and all that. I just knew Reggie was a monster and I couldn't believe we signed him.

Geez, if they wanted a QB we should have saved Brohm! LOL

To me, Holmgren has always been a "foundation" kind of team builder. The foundation of a productive offense are a quality QB, and a LT to protect his ass. Don't see MH making that move unless the deal is so lopsided (Browns need a lot of new talent) as to make it impossible for anyone but Dan Snyder to refuse.

Isn't Kampman a FA? He will end up in Minnesota. We need a replacement for Ray Edwards who is a FA.

Are you sure about that? I don't ever remember the Pack being a 3/4.

Wow, They did pay 3/4 in 1991. Never realized that. And I have been watching them since the mid 70's. Good find!

Joe Thomas is basically the best LT in the league. We can not possibly get him. What would we have to give Minnesota to get Adrian Peterson?
