Can anyone tell me where this nickname comes from?

Or what it is a reference to?

I know Charles Barkley is considered "Sir Charles." I never heard anyone call Woodson by that name, but maybe they are referring to Barkley when they say it?

Well my guess is they are copying Charles Barkley's nickname.

I really don't know.
But it has ALWAYS made me wonder, why professional atheletes always use their "fancy" name. Everyone i ever knew named "Charles" was call "Chuck". Or Robert called Bob.
Look at LeRoy Butler. We ALWAYS called him LEEroy. But now he wants to be called "La-ROY." I guess being a millionaire makes you want to be "fancy" or something.
