Who did YOU admire most in 2009?

Elin Nordegrens in good company! Tiger Woods wife rounds out Gallups annual survey of the 10 women most admired in 2009, placing her just behind the likes of Maya Angelou, Queen Elizabeth II and Sarah Palin. And when it comes to the gentleman, there was no contest President Obama dominated the list of the most admired men of 2009.

Most Admired Women:

* Hillary Clinton - 16%
* Sarah Palin 15%
* Oprah - 8%
* Michelle Obama - 7%
* Condoleezza Rice - 2%
* Queen Elizabeth II 2%
* Margaret Thatcher - 1%
* Maya Angelou 1%
* Angela Merkel - 1%
* Elin Nordegren 1%

Most Admired Men:

* President Obama 30%
* George W. Bush - 4%
* Nelson Mandela - 3%
* Glenn Beck - 2%
* Pope Benedict XVI - 2%
* Rev. Billy Graham - 2%
* Bill Gates - 2%
* John McCain - 1%
* George H.W. Bush - 1%
* Bill Clinton 1%
* Tiger Woods 1%

Am I the only one to notice that the rate of being admired is roughly proportional to the amount of press coverage the person gets? People seriously have no ability to think for themselves these days.

Elin Nordegren. A gold-digging, no-account model who married a grossly promiscuous man and will now make millions for the privilege of divorcing him. LMAO

I was pleased to see Angela Merkel on the list, even though I know the only reason she appeared is that she came to Washingon, D.C., in early November.

+1 to the first person to identify her significance without Googling her.

That's nothing new. People are psychologically biased towards things that get more news coverage. In fact, a study showed that stock prices are more likely to fluctuate from news articles that contain a picture than does that do not! It's a cognitive bias.

She works a couple of kilometers east from me. There's no way I couldn't know her.

No Martti Ahtisaari? Nobel peace prize winner of 2008, who has continued to work towards peace in the Kosovo area (plus he's finnish :cool: )
This is a placeholder

How many recent news stories have there been about Martti Ahtisaari?

I rest my case.
