Conference record trumps common opponents, but I'm guessing Bedard is saying that in that case, our conference records would be identical.

If we finish in a three way tie with the Giants and Cowboys, the Packers and Giants would win the tie breaker vs Dallas based on head to head match ups. The Giants swept Dallas in 2 games, and we defeated the Cowboys in our only game with them.
And of course, if we finished tied with the Cowboys, we win that tie breaker because we beat them head to head.
