Well, the very tippytop first thing to consider is that we went for 2 and got the extra points...

Billick mentioned that the stats sheet for coaches says that you go for 2 in a situation like that. If the stat sheet says it I put a lot of weight behind the decision.

Did I mention we got the two points with no problem?

You absolutely go for two in that situation. The Bears had established a solid rhythm on offense, and my thinking was that if they could mount any kind of a drive, it would probably result in a touchdown. Even if you lose the two pointer, you're still up by 5. The downside is that two fieldgoals wins it, instead of ties it...

i thought it a good call, with crosby missing his shots and some were closer than 42,and knowing there kicker can belt them,i liked the call and they made it witch made it sweet.

You have to pay attention to the momentum as well and we had that. The call was right to go for 2pt. Let's say they had scored the TD and were up by 1, and we didn't make the 2pt still down by a FG, so it was worth the risk budd.

Let's say they had scored the TD and were up by 1, and we didn't make the 2pt we would still had a chance of winning by kicking the FG. So it was worth the risk. Also, Mike had shown confidence in the players when they went for the 2pt.

Billick also said that usually a coach shouldn't use that sheet until there's around only 10 minutes left and the number of potential possessions is much less. I'm fine with the call, either way, it's a safer bet then Crosby having to make a FG to win the game.

I think Demovsky's decision to grade that decision as a "thumbs down" from the game was an exponentially shittier decision than Mike's decision. This I have decided. :thumbleft:

Going for the 2 was a no-brainer. You lose very little if you miss it since the bears will still have to score a TD or get two FGs to not be at a deficit.

We gain plenty however by making it since we get the 7 point lead which completely changes the Bears mindset on offense.

I don't remember if it was Billick or Brennaman that got all flustered and said it was "too late" in the quarter to try for the 2 when he meant to say it was too early. (I think it was Brennaman and that is when Billick said the chart says to go for two.)

I looked at my wife and said he (Brennaman) was stupid. Who knows if GB will even get another TD later in the quarter. Which of course they did not.

When you have the chance go for it. With as conservative as Mikey gets when he has the lead I was pleasantly surprised he tried for it.

It saw the right call. 5 or 6 points makes no difference 7 does.

I agree - seems like a good call to me; if we missed the 2 point conversion. Then the bears have to make 2 FG (meaning they have to have 2 scoring drives to the 35 yard line or less). If we make the 2 point then they need the TD to tie. Totally changes things.

ie if we missed it they could of gotten a FG and then we could of so we were still up IMO and it was the right call.
