I agree with most of what you say but Quinn Johnson on the practice squad? He would get picked up in a heartbeat. The guy is an absolute mammoth of a lead blocker in the run game.

That said, my goodness is he slow. If I'm not mistaken, he was the one responsible on Grant giving up a safety because he didn't get out to block a player fast enough.

Quinn is a power guy... not a speed guy. And I agree keep him on the 53 man roster....

Also as far as Underwood I swear he got called penalty today where it was clearly was him... like his number got called but it wasn't him... Ref got the wrong number... right call though just wrong number...

I am savouring the win.

I am NOT going to let any thing negative creep into my mind for the next 144 hours.

Quinn Johnson has no idea what going on. How many more missed blocks and coverage penalties will it take before McCarthy realizes he needs to be on the practice squad for a year. No one is going to pick him up right now.

"millertime" wrote:

Interesting to note: last week against the 49ers, Quinn Johnson blocked Patrick Willis one-on-one 4 times. 3 of the 4 times, Willis ended up lying on the ground.

Quinn may be sub-par on ST (and his lack of speed doesn't help him), but he offers something on returns and blocking.

It's pretty silly to think no one would pick up Quinn if released; he is a heck of a lot better than your standard 52-53 roster spot player on most teams even with his sub-par ST play so far.

Ironman, I can appreciate that. I love love who Vince was.

However, I am not the coach, a player, or consultant for the Packers. I am just a fan who can choose to savour the moment. I can take 6 days off from worrying I want to. It is a choice I have.

There was nothing wrong with Millertimes original post.

Perfect example of the dumbest penalties at the worst times! WTF was Bigby thinking. And there was one call that someone I watched the game with said "I've never seen that call before", and I was like "don't worry, if it can be called, these Packers will do it....and if you've never heard of the call, they'll just invent it!".

I'm SO glad final decisions on roster spots to start the season were based on special teams!!

Personally, I don't understand why we didn't run the ball with Quinn on the 1 yard line. Hell, the guy's an ox back there. Why NOT give him the ball and let him get about 3 yards. That would be better than calling a stretch play on the 1 inch line.

I even think a play action would have been a better call in that situation.

Oh well, the game's over, and we won by 22 points. I'm happy. I agree with RP about not getting too worked up about the negatives after a win.

Wow. You guys are a lot higher on Quinn Johnson than I am. All I see is a raw kid who misses assignments.

I really don't think someone would pick him up that fast. Why would a team want to waste a roster spot during the homerun stretch on a kid that won't be able to contribute this year because he doesn't know the plays?

I know I am ragging on the kid but he missed like 4 blocks yesterday and has had ST penalties in the last two games if I remember correctly.

When he makes blocks, he creams the guy. It is truly a spectacular block. But is leveling your guy on one play and then whiffing on the next really that much more effective than a guy like John Kuhn who may not knock people on their asses but occupies his guy 100% of the time?

[marq=up]Side note: It must be a good time to be a Packer fan if our biggest concern is over the third string fullback![/marq]

Well, millertime, did you see the 49ers game? No way that grant would have gotten 129 yards without Quinn. And he was embarrassing a very very good linebacker in Patrick Willis, who some people are calling the next Ray Lewis.

The guy is a rookie, give him a break. Don't cut him just because he missed a block or two. He has great potential to be a very good fullback down the road.

Johnson is a rookie, and he has made his share of mistakes no doubt. But he is someone who has much more potential than many of the bottom-end roster players that occupy the 52/53 roster spot on teams like the Lions, Browns, etc.

It sure is remarkable though that about 2 weeks after the Bucs devastating loss, our biggest concern is what Quinn Johnson's worth is. 😃
