If you ask me, they should just stop this entire fanvote. Kampman? Tahi? Farwell? These guys get voted in on past performances and by blind fandom.

Most laughable one : Woodson is in third place, while clearly being the best corner in the NFC. Want to know who's in second place? Antoine Winfield. Next to not even being close to Woodson in skill, he's been injured for 3 games, as well. This is just ridiculous.

It's the fans that decide to go/watch it. Hell yeah they/we should get a 1/3 vote.

The Pro Bowl is a popularity contest. There is absolutely nothing riding on the game. My question is.. Why are people pissy about the voting?

If there were something important that rode on the game (like MLB's All Star game) then I can understand why people don't like it.

Until then, this is a non-issue.

Yes, blind homerism votes. I don't watch the Pro Bowl to watch some fools that put on yellow helmets. I watch it to see players from MY favorite team. Again, the public are the people paying to see the game, they are also the ones watching it. Take them away, and you don't have any sort of Pro Bowl.

I don't care that there's nothing riding on this game. It should just include the best players of that year.

Apparently, fans are too thick to accomplish even that single feat. So, stop the voting process. Let the experts do it. I'm pretty sure that we won't see Tahi, Kampman and random ST dude in purple in Miami then.

"Rockmolder" wrote:

BTW, have you noticed the improvement on MNs ST? Especially coverage? Heath Farwell has always been a staple on that unit, and now he's healthy, finally. I know he's not the only reason why there's a turn around, but he's still a BIG factor. Everyone that has watched the purple the past few years knows this.

Just mark my words. Deserved or not, Peterson will be in the pro bowl for years to come. Doesn't matter what kind of stats he puts up. Or he'll have to take a nosedive like Tomlinson did.

Random Kid - 1250 yards, 10 TDs, 4.7 avg.

bah. it's a jaggoff game nobody watches anyway. it's an excuse for popular players to all go to hawaii and get their pickles wet for a week. nothing more.

Isn't the pro-bowl now the week before the superbowl??

I'm quite sure it is being played in Miami as well.

As the best players from the winningest teams will be there what are the provisos for players voted to the pro-bowl whose teams are in the superbowl the following sunday.

Surely there is no way these players will be expected to play in this the most meaningless of games there is, what with the chance of injuries.

Sorry if this has been asked before but I just need to know the answer.

Rock must be spending time over at PPO.

I can sense it.

He is quick on the trigger with the homerism thing.

It's all good, Rock...

You are behind friendly lines here.

All that matters is the All Pro team, which Woodson and the kid from Oakland should be on. Corners that play in a Tampa cover two cannot be judged with lock down corners.

We have one all pro and that is Woodson. Fortunately we have many other very good players, just not players that are the best at their position.

As for Minnesota, I would put Kevin Williams, Hutchinson, Favre, Allen, and Butterfingers on the All Pro team. I really would like to turn the clock back 25 years on Peterson and see what he could do against players throughout the league that actually knew how to tackle. But since we can't we'll have to continue to watch him slip out of would be tackles and ramble for his big gains.

"DakotaT" wrote:

The Revis kid from the Jets i think is playing the best this year he has shut down everyone including Moss, Johnson, Colston and Ownes to name a few. So i would give him the nod but the guy from Oakland i think is the best cb in the league noone even tries to throw against him and that is a shut down corner aka Deion.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

Uproar? Peterson, fullback Fahu Tahi, tackle Bryant McKinnie, guard Steve Hutchinson, center John Sullivan (who?), kicker Ryan Longwell, kick returner Percy Harvin, defensive end Jared Allen, defensive tackle Kevin Williams, and special-teamer Heath Farwell are in first place at their respective positions. Outside of Tahi and Sullivan, every one of those guys probably deserves to be voted number 1 at their position. If not number 1, maybe number 2. And if you don't like that Tahi and Sullivan are at number 1, maybe you should find the players that are obviously better than them and start a campaign.

To me, it just sounds like Viking fans started their campaign a bit earlier than other teams.

Nice discussion, Formo. It's obvious that I can't sway you from your points and you can't sway me from mine.

I think that these things should be picked objectively, not on reputation and, ideally, out of the fans hands.

You think the exact opposite.

Just one thing, though. Eric Dickerson had 7 season where he went over a 1000 yards. Had essentially an 8 season streak of amazing play. Went down a little after that, but still played on a pretty high level.

Do you really want to tell me that you'd take Wendell Tyler over him? Or think he's better?

My point was while Dickerson was a great back (HoF in my book), he seemed to be the only good player on that team.. Much like Barry with the Lions. They both had long enough careers to explore other options if they really wanted a Super Bowl.

It's sad to see some players that are obviously elite without rings because they are stiffled by their current teams (K.G. of the NBA world, anyone?)
