You can't halfass it, dfosterf. Until you follow him to the grocery store, break into his house and install recording devices, and trace his every move, you're not a TRUE packers fan.

When the season was over last year, one of the few things that I took away as a positive was Aaron Rodgers performance and I was really excited at seeing him develop this year.

I don't understand how anyone can be resentful of him last year because of the Favre mess. The guy patiently waited and learned behind Favre for three years and then stepped up as the starter under tremendous pressure. If the fans should have been cursing at someone, it should have been Favre for acting like man-child and creating a fiasco out of the whole ordeal.

I was behind Rodgers after the Dallas game in 07. I guess finally is in order.

That is what I wrote him a letter about. I thanked him for scaring the shit out of my Dallas Cowboy fan friend, giving him the quote from my friend, ("That Aaron Rodgers scares the shit out of me" --those were his words) wished him all the success in the world, apologized for the father of that kid that swore at him, and told him that the real fans of the Green Bay Packers were behind him 100%.

I thought it appropriate and somewhat necessary for him to know that all the bullshit surrounding Favre and Ted Thompson wasn't being swallowed by a large but mostly silent portion of the GBP fanbase. I never heard back from him, but the act itself of taking the time and trouble to let him know how I and many of my fellow fans felt about the situation made me feel better about the whole damn thing.

I'd like to believe he read that letter.

THAT is the kind of thing a REAL Green Bay Packer fan does. Everyone is entitled to their own version of fandom, as I have stated repeatedly...but in my opinion...This is what it looks like--- to me personally---definition-wise.

All the hand-wringers, Favreites, whatever---bullshit front-runner fair-weather fan-types.

+1. I have my own definition of fan-dom, and it jibes with the above. The front-runners and bandwagon whores can go cheer for the Vikings as far as I'm concerned.

I've been impressed with him, and behind him with every move he makes. He was put in a position last season that most men would have cracked under, yet he handled it with grace and maturity beyond his years.

I remember that day back in 05 when he got his first "live rounds" in mop-up duty in my first trip to Lambeau. It was a 52-3 drubbing of the Saints, and midway through the 4th quarter, in comes Mr. Rodgers. Me, being the Packer fan that I am, I give the ole "c'mon, Aaron...welcome to Green Bay!". I'll never forget this next part...a Packer fan turned to me and said "Aaron? That's his name?". I knew he was doomed by many at that very instant.

dfosterf (25-Jul) : Probably a homer access credential intimidation kinda thing
dfosterf (25-Jul) : Meathead "journalists" skip this, concentrating on operational revenue when convenient. They switch when net revenue is more favorable.
