1) Beating up on the weak sisters of the NFL.

Did the last two weeks provide the Packers with a real look at where they stand going forward? Some will argue yes, that we made progress on the offensive line and cleaned things up on the defensive side of the ball. Some will point out three of our four victories have come over a couple of the struggling teams, our performance last week was a product of the competition.

The truth probably lies someplace in the middle of that spectrum.. with improvement from within yet assistance in the results coming from the opposition.

But it very well may be just what the doctor ordered, a bye week followed by two weeks to build upon the small in game victories, the progress and communications being formed and some guys getting their heads and bodies adjusted to the offseason changes.

I have confidence in the defensive side of the ball, with the scheme and alignment changes, there are going to be yet more quirks that arise. It truly is a work in progress that is picking up steam. Our rankings might fluctuate for the remainder of the season when better offenses are faced, but I think the overall dynamics of the defense will continue to improve with time.

The offensive line performances warrants a little more reluctance to grab a hold and have complete confidence that we have seen the darkest days of the 2009 season. Time will tell in this aspect, but a large variable lies at #2. full article.

I was upset at the GB effort in their win over the toothless Tabbies. I did enjoy the win over the Browns. So it was seemingly a step forward but it is hard to tell against such weak competition. For me to really believe that GB is moving forward they have to play well (not necessarily win) against MN. Granted if they don't win they won't make the playoffs. But right now I will settle for a step forward from last year's 6-10 record.

Great article, Pack93z

Solid +1

O-line is my (absolutely) number one concern in this game.

So we whupped a couple of tomato cans.

It is this week that matters. Not last week, not the Detroit game. Not the first match-up vs. the Queens.

The Queens held serve. We failed against the Bengals.

Lang is encouraging...man I personally needed some encouragement.

Cliffy looks done to me. Done, done.

I don't want him in there. Continuity on the rest of the o-line, with some TE help on whichever side the redneck is on.

Vikes play a lot of max protect. We should also, imo.

Jennings production/lack thereof means nothing as long at the passing game is rolling. It's all hand-wringing, to me, regarding Greg. My theory is if a D now schemes for Driver, then Jennings will toast 'em. I also have great confidence in James Jones, and for that matter, the kid comin' up.

Jared Allen, the better Williams', AD---Get these guys taken care of. Make Favre beat Aaron. Protect Aaron Rodgers and no one can stop our offense.

Lord Favre is way overdue for a bad Brett day.

We had to suck on so many of those, it's about time the Queens did as well.

Protect Aaron Rodgers. Protect Aaron Rodgers. Protect Aaron Rodgers.

Max protect. Run at JA. I don't give a f#ck how they do it. Just do it.

Aaron Rodgers...protected.... HE WILL SMOKE A DEFENSE. ANY DEFENSE.

I was reading a Peter King article from many, many moons ago in which he followed the Packers for a week in 95.

I was struck by a comment Brett made about loosing Sterling Sharpe, saying it was a great thing because now he could focus on getting the ball to every receiver, and letting them do their thing.

Perhaps Finley's injury is a blessing in disguise, as is having only 3 of the core group of WRs available.

Maybe, just maybe, Aaron will now have to focus on Driver and much more on Jennings in his first and second reads - both have shown they can do some serious damage when getting the ball.

They struggled against the Loins, because of the offensive line. That problem SEEMS to have been addressed. This game will tell us alot about the Oline.

No, but we have to grasp at whatever straws we've got...

But honestly, we gave up 5 sacks against a pathetically depleted Lions line and then shutout a Cleveland unit that, while not great, should have given us much more trouble than the Kitties did.

Smells like improvement to me...

It appears as if they did progress. Great. Wonderful. I am all for it.
But did they really? I dunno. When you play a team as bad as Cleveland do a win really mean anything? Maybe so, maybe not. I am not looking for moral victories. I am looking for something that is really tangible.

As I said win this week would be nice but that is not what I need to know that the team is actually moving in the right direction. Solid play on the line both the OL and DL is proof. A game with zero sacks, will mean something.
