The problem is not the punter in this case.

Kapinos is 13th in Average at 45.6 yards. 32nd in Net at 33.9 yards. That is because GB is the second worst in ret yards. 20 punts 12 returned with an average of 16 yards.

While I agree with you that you have to look at the coverage units as well, Mike McCarthy has stated for a while now that he wants a directional punter, one who will kick punts out of bounds to limit returns.

Kapinos can kick straight, but beyond that he isn't much of a directional punter. It's still an area of improvement, one which I think requires a new punter as opposed to more time for Kapinos to grow as a punter.

Still, I'm not too deflated with the job Kapinos is doing... he's miles ahead of Frost.

Ted Thompson must still be ruing the day he decided to cut Jon Ryan. He was perfectly acceptable, and provided a good skill set to work with.

i'm wondering if you have seen Cribbs play at all ? he runs there Wildcat offense and plays wr. He returns both punt and kick returns. So to say he would be buried on our bench is down right foolish, you sound like Ted Thompson and Mike McCarthy thinking we have so much talent ob this team.

We run the wildcat?
We have no depth at WR?

He'd be our KR/PR, that's about it. Oh and emergency QB since thats what he did at Kent State?

"all_about_da_packers" wrote:

He would easily be our #3 wr and we don't have anyone to run the wildcat with on our team right now. He would be far superior a returner than anything we have on our roster right now. And look how that makes a difference in a game when you have aguy back there that can take it to the house at any time.

"PackFanWithTwins" wrote:

There's no way that he could easily be our nr. 3 WR. I mean, he hasn't gone over a 100 yards receiving in his entire career, doesn't have great hands in the passing game and can't run a route to save his life (At least, the last game I watched).

As a receiver, we might as well take Swain over Cribbs.

McCarthy has stated that the wildcat isn't something for his team. If it was, I'm pretty sure that Driver could run it. Or otherwise Blackmon could've when he was healthy.

As a returner, he'd be great, though. He's one of the best in the league on both kick-off and punt returns. I wouldn't mind having him on the team at all.

F*ck the wildcat! Stupid gadget/15 minutes/flavor-o-the month play set.

Back on topic....I'm happy enough with Kapinos, and as has been stated before...he's no Frost, so we're good.

I like the wildcat if you're actually commited to it. It's not 'just a gadget'. I mean, Miami runs it for quite a few snaps per game. If you use it like that, it'll work.

Like I said, I think that DD could run it for us, but McCarthy doesn't appear to like the wildcat. Maybe it's better that way.

Ditto. You know what the wildcat is? Its called the direct snap. That's all it is. Its a direct snap to the running back. Big fucking deal. Teams have been doing it for years.

Wildcat = WAY overrated.

I don't know about that.

You overload one side of the line (Lining the LT next to the RT or vice versa), you (nearly) always run a play-action to your end around player and you have the QB lined up wide, meaning the defense has to account for him, as well, while the QB is normally a freebie on defense.

I think this is more thought out than just a direct snap to the RB. It's an entire formation. And a special one at that.

I would rather have my WR line up wide. But thats just me. Yeah lining up the QB out wide is cute, but, eh, whatever.

Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : sounds like Packers don't get good compensation, Jaire staying

dfosterf (16-Apr) : Trade, cut or keep
dfosterf (16-Apr) : that from Jaire
dfosterf (16-Apr) : My guess is the Packers floated the concept of a reworked contract via his agent and agent got a f'
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Yes, and that is why I think Rob worded it how he did. Rather than say "agent"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Same laws apply. Agent must present such an offer to Jaire. Cannot accept or reject without presenting it
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : I'm thinking that is why Rob worded it how he did.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The Packers can certainly still make the offer to the agent
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Laws of agency and definition of fiduciary responsibility
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Jaire is open to a reduced contract without Jaire's permission
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The agent would arguably violate the law if he were to tell the Packers
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : That someone ... likely the agent.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : So, Jaire has not been offered nor rejected a pay reduction, but someone says he'd decline.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovksy says t was direct communication with someone familiar with Jaire’s line of thinking at that moment.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovsky just replied to me a bit ago. Jaire hasn't said it.

dfosterf (16-Apr) : What is the downside in making a calculated reduced offer to Jaire?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers are receiving interest in Jaire Alexander but a trade is not imminent
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Jalen Ramsey wants to be traded. He's never happy is he?

dfosterf (14-Apr) : Maybe send a crew of Angels to the Packers draft room on draft day.
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I am the Angel that gets visited.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Visiting Angels has a pretty good reputation
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : what
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : WINNING IT, not someone else losing it. The best victory though was re-uniting with his wife
