yea the Rush D has been pretty good surprisingly against good RB's, hopefully the pass rush can get better as well

Forte, Jackson, Peterson, Benson ... all very good running backs with Forte being the least talanted in my opinion. I've liked what I seen from Benson even last year.

3 of those are in the top 4 in the league in rushing.

Are people ready to hop off the Bishop bandwagon and recognize that Hawk and Barnett are doing their jobs in this new offensive scheme? Hawk was never a perfect outside linebacker, but in the 3-4 we might see our biggest improvements in dline and middle linebackers.

If we can get Kamp to get a bit more pressure I don't see a big flaw in our defense.

I still like Bishop. He's a playmaker.

Hop off the Bishop bandwagon.. not I.

Do I think he should be starting or receiving the majority of the snaps, probably not, but there is no doubt that he is the most physical backer we have at the line of scrimmage.. to boot, I think we need to start seeing what we truly have in him.

Barnett isn't a force at the line of scrimmage.. and gets buried when taking on a block, most of the time running himself out of the play to avoid contact.. Hawk is the opposite, he takes on the block but unable to shed them..

Do I think either suck or whatnot.. nope, but I think Bishop would have more of an impact inside the box if mixed in.. I might agree that he is a liability in coverage in man up situations..

Bishop's strength is against the run. Not unlike Poppinga and Hawk. The pass covering LBs are Barnett, Chillar, Thompson and Mathews. Even Kampy is more of a run stuffer than a pass coverer.
I'd like to see what Bishop could do at OLB. He could cover at least as well as Kampman. Dude can get to the QB like nobody's business.

Bishop is #4. Maybe if he can scratch his way past Chillar, then he can look to trying to earn a start. If I remember Swain broke up the other fake punt. I don't want he being a starter either.

"pack93z" wrote:

Just noted it, that he kept his responsibility in check and played very fundamental sound ball.. opposed to those that say he is mistake prone.

But I think Hawk is falling fast.. the base unit consisted of Barnett and Chillar most of the day with Hawk receiving less snaps than normal..

I don't hid the fact that I like physical linebacker play.. I want mean SOB's in the middle of my defensive front 7... Barnett is a contact avoider.. doesn't handle blocks well.. probably why I discount his worth upon the field..

"PackFanWithTwins" wrote:

This could be due to matchups. Chillar and Barnett are pass coverage specialists. The TEs were Detroits only weapons suited up for this game.

Why don't you just call him what he is - an overpaid poser panzy who needs to hit the bricks in the offseason? At least Hawk can take on a block without wetting himself. What I am quite certain of is that there is some huge money being paid out to three linebackers that I wouldn't even bring back next season. I can't believe we cut Lansanah.

I've always considered Barnett soft. He was drafted high by Sherman and then just anointed as a defensive leader. I think he's the Darren Sharper of LBs.

I was high on barnett last year and going into this season; but after seeing his lackluster play. Id rather see bishop in when it comes to stuffing the run and rushing the passer. Keep barnett for passing plays.

Was a recent article about ACL tears and it pretty much stated a player will lose aboug 33% of his ability after he tears it.

Chillar is our premium coverage backer ...

We got a backer for all types ... oh ya
I was dogging hawk last season and preseason this year; but IMO hawk is performing better then barnett this year.

- oh I should say - I like our rushing defense this year better then what 25th last year?(think thats where we were at).

We just need to keep up the QB pressure and we gtg. Matthews and kampman and bishop all the way.

oh heck jolly and jenkins too!

Just need pickett with a INT now 😉

I hope they start Bishop so everybody can see he is not all that. Then we can talk about reality instead of fantasy.
