Tampa Bay traded DE Gaines Adams to the Chicago Bears for a 2010 draft pick thought to be a second-round pick.

I don't know if morgaging the future by giving up yet another early pick is a good idea, but the Bears are becoming a force to be reckoned with. Gaines Adams has been underachieving in Tampa.

As for the Bucs... They are using some weird strategy. They go out and let their old QB go, then go and make a trade for one of the best TEs in the league and then go and trade away a young guy who was a first round pick in 2007 for a second rounder. It's like they're rebuilding, but not totally commited to it.

Maybe they just want to go 0-16 really bad. I mean, the Lions did make them look pretty bad by one-upping them on their 0-14 season.

does this help the Bears now? Are either of their DE's that bad? Brown maybe 30 but he is on pace for 60 tackles with 10 sacks. Seems like a lot to give up for somebody that will have a rough time improving the squad.
The world needs ditch diggers too Danny!!!

I think they don't plan on bringing Ogunleye(sp?) back since he's getting up there in age too

I'm just glad that now the Bears won't have a first day pick in the next draft :)
Hopefully Adams doesn't turn it around in Chicago cause that would suck for our already shaky o-line

can't we make a trade for Tashard Choice or something? Anything? We have three RB's and once we get one back, another one goes down. And the three of them aren't much of a threat. Trade for one!! Obviously you can't freaking draft one...

Idiotic trade for both sides. Gaines Adams hasn't done much during his career, but TB is now in serious trouble at DE, starting a former situational pass rusher Jimmy Wilkerson, and someone who shouldn't be a starter anywhere, Stylez White. The Bears are loaded at DE, Ogunleye and Brown starters, and Mark Anderson as a situational rush guy. Unless there is injury trouble for the Bears, it's hard to make sense of this.
This is a placeholder

Christ, c'mon dude. Don't be an idiot. You know just as well as everyone here does that they have now traded away their 1st and 3rd last year and their 1st and 2nd this year. For a defense that's aging so badly, that's never a good sign. They really took a gamble on an underachiever here and it it doesn't work out, they're screwed, I think.

As to PFWT. Their DEs are average, but they just gained the nr. 4 overall pick from just a two years ago. He's coachable. Especially if you have a guy like Marinelli as the D-line coach.

It's just a huge gamble for both sides, I think.

IMO, good move for the Bears. Ogun might not be back and their D-line is already pretty nasty(which wasn't the case last season) with the addition of Rod Marinelli who ahs a knack for turning first round talent like this into an All-pro. Adams biggest problem was playing next to garbage on the Tampa D-line for 3 seasons. This move makes sense. Marinelli can coach this kid up to his potential.
