Fun game to watch IMO because it was truly Favre vs. Packers and Favre beat us. Now we know what it's like. Got to give credit to him and his offensive line, they were the better team.

I loved the way the run defense played and the way Rodgers played. I thought Green Bay shot themselves in the foot on several occasion rather than the Vikings make something happen.

Three keys

1. Rodgers' fumble - Got to block Allen.

2. - Rodgers INT - I didn't like that call (out with lesser field to work with) and not crazy about throwing that into tight coverage.

3. Lee's dropped pass on 4th and goal.

Theoretically, Green Bay left nine points on the field and arguably seven on that drop.

It's sad to know that the team is an offensive line away or even two tackles away from being pretty competitive. They hung in well I thought despite all the mistakes.

Good thread, insightful as usual Porky.

Bad:

- I think Rodgers deserves blame on some of the sacks. Held the ball for WAY too long. Especially when Lang was in at LT, you have to get rid of the ball quicker. Perhaps MM/Jimmy Robinson/WRs are to blame for not calling shorter routes / breaking routes off earlier.

- Where on earth was the pass rush? I mean wow, I dare say I think Bob Sanders scheme could have caused Favre more pressure than Capers 3-4 did tonight. Astonishingly bad.

- Something needs to change on the o-line. Be it coach or personnel, this group is surprisingly bad.

To be honest, I'm like Coach Kline from Waterboy during the halftime of the bowl game .... sitting back in defeat and in a wavering tone asking if anyone has any idea to improve the situation.

Only positive from this game: Packers fans yelled at Ted Thompson and Mike Murphy at the press box causing them to leave with 5 minutes left in the fourth; this type of play shouldn't sit well with anyone, especially those at the very top.

From where I'm standing here's how it looks:

The only thing the Packers weren't completely embarrassing in was run defense. I thought they did a good job against AP who only got 55 yards on 25 carries.

With a decent, (not even good, just serviceable) o-line the Packers win that game. Even with nothing but a green and gold cloud of mist in front of him Rodgers went 26/37 for 384 yards. We've got what could be an elite QB with a bunch of nobody wet noodles blocking (or, rather, not blocking) for him.

Pass rush was nonexistent tonight. In the throw to Dugan Favre had 7.34 seconds to throw the ball. I understand Packers' D was playing prevent, but come on... If they aren't going to blitz they need to get Kampman involved in the d-line because he is not effective in space. The man is dangerous as a pass rusher, as we well know. I'd like to see Capers do something about this.

Finally, what was going on with third down conversions on defense? The Vikings absolutely slaughtered the defense on what seemed like every third down.

Rodgers may of held the ball too long at times, but when you have to leave the pocket because it's collapsing or you feel that presence coming at you from around the corner, it's going to take time. That's an extra second or two he has to roll out and to me, it's not only the sacks, but the fact that 3/4 of the time, Rodgers is on the run.

Irony is the three most impressive Aaron Rodgers' game I've watched were tonight and last year vs. Atlanta and Carolina.

All losses.

He needs help.

It was the line. They were awful.

I can't see Rodgers being blamed for holding it too long except maybe one or two of his sacks, tops.

Well, we stopped AP. Then got killed by Favre. Careful what you wish for. That's what a lot of us on this forum were hoping for - stop AP and force Favre to beat us. Well, that's what we did.

Rodgers was spectacular. Put any other QB behind that line.

porky, I think we did a pretty good job beating ourselves. Stats were pretty even for the QBs excepting the two turnovers by Rodgers. IMHO, we shot ourselves in the foot and received some questionable calls (Woodson's pass interference overruling an INT??!! WTF!)

Rodgers did hold on to the ball too long and Lee's drop didn't help things either. However, each Rodgers turnover led to a queens TD. Favre did perform well, Rodgers over-psyched himself like the Favre of old in big games.

I think the Vikes got to Rodgers early and by the 4th quarter, even when he had a lot of time, he looked anxious and just threw the ball away to avoid a sack. He didn't look comfortable back there and that is either due to good coverage by the Minn. defense or else he just didn't have the patience to settle down back there after being sacked several times.

I hear ya.

I think you divide a game into two halves especially when the teams are even.

I thought the Packers offense beat the Vikings defense or should I say Aaron Rodgers beat them on his own. Over 400 yards of offense and 380 passing. Rodgers really did play great, but they also shot themselves in the foot like I said in my first post, three times.

They left nine points on the board because of turnovers and not kicking a FG or I guess the drop in the endzone. None the less, those field goals while aren't a gimmie, are very make able. That's 31-30 right there for the record. Obviously the game is different in situations, but my points stands.

Favre, however, beat the Packers defense. GB stopped the run and dared Favre to beat them and he did. You got give the old guy credit. Minnesota doesn't win this game without Favre and I guess that's what I mean by him beating them.

I'm actually not too unhappy with the loss. I thought the Packers showed up well in the face of adversity. Brett Favre deserves credit where credit is due, that man has an ungodly ability of being better in duress or clutch situations. I'll provide some more comments later when I have some time.

I was texting my friend who is a Bears fan late in the game that I thought Rogers would be scary if he had an O Line, he beat me to it. That, coming from a Bears fan, says volumes. With even the semblance of an O Line we win that game.

This is why I love coming to this board. Despite the collective kick in the jewels the team took tonight, at least most people around here can look at the game objectively.

I'm not even going to bother to read the JSonline and Packersnews.com sites for obvious reasons if you ever frequent them.
