Just read that post of yours after I wrote that one Pack and you are word for word thinking what I'm thinking. Barnett cannot play in this scheme. I'm all for having him rotate in on occasion, but I think the Packers might be a better run defense with Bishop and Chiller in there along with Hawk rather than Barnett.

Likewise on Poppinga. If you're going to play 3-4 outside linebacker, you need to rush the passer and contain. Poppinga is just not very good at either. He tries to hard to overpower his opponents. Now he got some pass rush on one player, but for the most part he lacks consistency. It's just a matter of time until the Packers start Clay Matthews and begin to play him most of the snaps.

I actually liked what I saw from Kampman from a pass rush standpoint yesterday. I thought he did some nice things. I believe he was credited with his first sack of the year on the Jolly fumble recovery.

Yes he was.. but that is my only concern, that came with him manning his traditional end spot with his hand down.. he just comes off the snap better yet with that stance.. still not comfortable engaging from an upright position.. not natural to him yet.

Bottom line all these guys are learning a new system and new positions on the run.

There are going to be mistakes made, maybe I over-reacted a little, The Packers are not perfect, just because they wear the green and gold doesn't make them the best in the league.

I just get a little frustrated when fans pick apart every little thing just to have something to gripe about.

The coaches responsibilities are to get these guys ready, if they feel a player is not making the grade they either make a change or as in the case of Rouse, they replace them.

Unless you are in that huddle, playing the game ,you do not know who has what responsibilty.

I am sick and tired of people on this forum talking bad about A.J. Hawk, and others!!!

I am sick and tired of hearing that A.J. Hawk isn't playing up to a #5 pick level?

anyone who doesn't think we should have drafted A.J. Hawk at #5, GO BITCH AT TED THOMPSON, he is the one who drafted him.

I don't remember A.J. Hawk ever missing a game in Green Bay, even last year when he was injured he played through it.

Last year when Barnett went down he didn't bitch when he was moved to middle linebacker(a position he had never played), he just went out and played the best he could.

If you don't think there is any difference playing mlb and olb, then go get a book, or try playing the game yourself!

A. J. Hawk has been nothing but profesional while in Green Bay, you want flashy, mouthy players, well then look somewhere else, because A.J. Hawk is A FOOTBALL PLAYER, and a damn good one.

The Packers could have done a lot worse than A.J. Hawk at #5, but they could not have done a whole lot better.

The guy goes out everyday and prepares, he shows up every Sunday and plays his best.

There are many out there that you cannot say that about.

EVERYBODY JUST GET OFF A.J. HAWK!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ditto that!

Excellent post, I see a lot of people during sunday that really need some lessons in football, they sit there and complain when Hawk doesn't make a tackle ten yards in the backfield even though he stuffs a guy for a 1 or 2 yard gain, they'll complain when Ryan Grant "Doesn't Cut back" even though there is NO Cutback lane or one opens up as he is already being contacted by defenders.

+1 Dude. The other thing I think people forget is its real early (obviously) in the 34. Were 3 games into it! a scheme change that everyone says takes a year or two to get comfortale with. I am quite impressed that the D has played as well it has.
And about Hawk, Hawk is the Bart Scott or Gooden of this D, not the Ray Lewis.

I also gave buckeyepackfan a +1 because he basically said every exact word that I was thinking when I clicked on this thread.

Every single damn week, I see a thread with the name "AJ Hawk" with a description of "Not Impressed" under it. I'm getting mad at this, because I continue to see him make big plays in the backfield.

I remember him making that tackle on Steven Jackson when he hit him from behind, where Jackson probably would have had at least 20-30 yards if he didn't hit him.

Also, while we're talking about linebackers, I think Clay Matthews has really played well so far, and I am seeing Barnett help a lot in the run support. Poppinga on the other hand, I think we need to start seeing Jeremy Thompson playing for him behind Clay Matthews.

Hawk is the guy that makes things happen for others. He is the guy that leads on the LBer stunt so whoever is 2nd gets through. You complain about Hawk chasing a RB in the flat. Well the name of his position is Inside LBer. It he is the guy that has to go out and chase a RB in the flat, it is because somebody else messed up.

Hawk is a solid and consistent player. Which is what the team needs from him. Let Bishop or Barnett get the recognition benefiting from Hawks leads.

I like Hawk, he makes the others players around him better, maybe he doesn't shine as others players but when he is not on the field everybody feel it.

That's fine except that when a guy gets picked #5 overall, you expect Ray Lewis, not Bart Scott. Hawk has been solid, if unspectacular, the only real issue is that he hasn't lived up to his lofty draft status (and I don't think he ever will).
