I'm hoping he pulls together though and ends this season with 100+ tackles.

Wow, he was nerdish looking.

And I wouldn't drop dead if we traded him to the Steelers. There are very few people I wouldn't take from the Steelers for Barnett...I think.

And he is back on Twitter....like a damn high school girl.

Not a joke.

2003 - 112
2004 - 123
2005 - 139
2006 - 105
2007 - 131
2008 - 49

2008 was his only year he went under 100 tackles. In this 3-4 D, he should have more opportunities as the front 3 tie up blockers and the LBs should be making more plays (on paper).

So far, it's not happening. Contrary to popular opinion, Nick is no dummy. He's actually football smart and I'm hoping he does pull it together and finish this year strong.

+1.

Barnett hasn't made a whole lot of flashy plays. (Apart from his 2007 Pro-Bowl and All-Pro worthy season). He does, however, get his man down. Something that about the entire board has been complaining about. Yes, he missed a tackle last week, but that happens to the best of them. He came right back on the next play.

He's no Ray Lewis or anything, but he's pretty much a poor man's Patrick Willis. And that's not a negative.

People like the hard hitters because they're the ones who show up on the highlight reels and get idolized on SportsCenter. Personally, I couldn't care less about the occasional hard hit when I see the opposing offenses blowing past our players time after time. Give me 10 players who tackle consistently play after play over one player who thinks solid defense is throwing his body sidelong at a receiver's legs in the vain hope of tripping him up. This goes for any team. It's getting harder and harder for me to watch NFL games because of the nearly complete absence of solid tackling I see.

Whichever coach manages to bring tackling back into the NFL will become my new hero.

One thing I loved about Nick in '03 was he was a solid tackler. I agree with Nonstop, I'd rather have a solid tackler than highlight reels. After all, would you rather see a W in our column or a bunch of real neat-o highlights?
