While he was still overseas my son IM-ed me and asked me to get tickets for the Cubs- Cards in St Louis the middle of Sept. It was already mid August so I didn't think we would be able to find tickets. Esp since it was a weekend series.
Saturday was sold out. A few scattered single seat tickets but what fun would it be if we could not sit together? Sunday was the Packers game so I looked at the Friday nite game.
Best Avail were outrageous. So I started with the cheapest seats and kept entering the info until I found 2 half way decent seats. There weren't many.

We had a great time! Esp when Holliday hit the walk off HR in the bottom of the 9th.

We sat next to an old man who reminded me of my Dad. He too was a Korean War vet who walks with a cane. Just like Dad use to. He needed help getting up from his seat, just like Dad. This gentleman also did two tour in Nam.

Every once in awhile, I found myself talking to him more than my son.

All in all a great day.

It was.
The expressway I wanted to use was tore up and we got stuck in Friday nite construction traffic.
I parked in the wrong spot and had to walk a long long way.
Missed the pre game fly over.
Missed the 1st half inning when The Cubs scored both of their runs. (I guess that was a good thing.)
Couldn't find a bus or cab back to the car. (My son was certain our car would be locked up for the night.)
Got on the expressway. (The same one that was under construction as it seemed to be open west.) No warning signs that it was closing just two off ramps. I realized that the right lane was not the one I wanted so I swerved left to get in the other lane and knocked my mirror off.
Headed west thru St Louis at night on secondary streets which took forever. (He kept asking if I wanted to call Mom and have her look at a map. I said no as I knew where we were going but not the best way to get there.)

STILL it was a great night.
