Practice notes: Raji practices again
The big test for rookie defensive lineman B.J. Raji was going to be how he felt today after practicing for the first time on Thursday.
His ankle must have responded OK because he was back on the field this morning, going through at least the portion of practice that was open to reporters. It was the final workout before Sunday's season opener against the Chicago Bears.
Raji sprained his ankle in the preseason finale against Tennessee nine days ago.
Cornerback/kick returner Will Blackmon also appeared to be doing some of the drills. He has been out since the Aug. 22 preseason game against Buffalo due to a quad contusion. Running back Brandon Jackson did not appear to be practicing due the ankle injury he sustained against the Titans.
The practice started 15 minutes later than its originally scheduled 10:15 a.m. time because of some additional morning meetings. Therefore, coach Mike McCarthy's final news conference of the week likely won't begin until about 12:25 p.m. That's when the official injury report is expected to be released. Friday is the only day of the week in which teams must classify players as either doubtful, questionable or probable.
