Good move by the pack. We just had CB dropping like flies against the Titans, so adding depth is great. And getting any value for Moll is a bonus. I hope Martin never makes the field because or starters are healthy.

Note to Baltimore (Flacco). If Moll has to play, run for your life because some Dlineman is coming for your head without anybody in his way.
The world needs ditch diggers too Danny!!!

Ravens fans thoughts from ESPN:

RavensInsiderRavens cornerback Derrick Martin has been traded to the Green Bay Packers. Probably for a 2010 conditional draft pick

Zanda616
wow i can't believe they actually got something for that p.o.s.

Green Bay must be real desperate. Anything more than a 5th round pick for Martin is a steal.

Adam_SchefterPackers have traded T Tony Moll to the Baltimore Ravens for DB Derrick Martin.

Funny, that's the same thing the Packers board is saying about Moll.

ochemWI

Moll was going to be cut by the Packers and was terrible with zone blocking. I understand that the Ravens have a different blocking scheme, so maybe he'll do better for you.

Looks like we swapped are trash to one another. Both GMs are probably laughing at the most pointless trade in nfl history.

Yeah but that looks like it's when they thought they were getting a draft pick... most Raven fans' I've seems to think the Packers got the better end of the deal. From what I can find some like Martin is basically a Jarrett Bush clone with a short flash of great talent every now and then but isn't developing at all.

Can someone educate me why we picked Bush over Smith? Would love to hear your thoughts.

Packers trade OL Tony Moll to the Baltimore Ravens for Safety / cornerback Derrick Martin

A real WIN for Ted Thompson. Getting a usable player back for a guy that was going to get cut anyway is always a good thing. Martin has been a cornerback and just this preseason made the switch to safety. The Ravens were stacked in the secondary and it became a numbers game for him. Just recently, Ravens coach Jim Harbaugh had this to say about Martin:

"The thing about Derrick Martin thats interesting is, hes always the same," Harbaugh said. "Derrick Martin comes out and plays well in every single practice. Then, he lines up in a game and plays well in every single game.

"He plays extremely fast. Hes made the transition from corner to safety. So, he can play both. Derrick Martin is a valuable piece to that secondary. Hes a guy thats in the mix to make our roster, and hes earned that. Its going to be interesting to see how it shakes out, but I think Derrick Martin has played his way, pretty potentially, onto this football team.

In the end it didn't work out for Martin in Baltimore, but his acquisition meant the Packers could cut Anthony Smith. Reportedly the Packers have been eyeing Martin for a while and like him better than Smith. Martin is a special teams gunner and can play cornerback or safety. Overall, he seems to offer more value than Smith.

I like that bleacher report thinks it's a win for Thompson, but I wouldn't care if he turned out to be 200 lbs of shit wrapped in a skin bag. MOLL IS GONE!!!

The real news is that we got something for Moll, holy crap. I am suprised that we kept Bush, and cut Smith (I thought he was in the running for starting over Bigby. Bigby just hasnt looked like a starter yet this year.)
Ol Teddy if hes anything it aint predictable.

he was predictable this last draft for me :thumbright: .... but other than that your right... and I just got lucky and was thinking on the same page....

but yeah I'm surprised they are keeping 5 S (Collins, Bigby, Rouse, Bush and Martin). I would of thought it would of been just four right Rouse going on the IR...
