Woodson: Packers can win it all
Charles Woodson said hes never been more excited entering a season, and the sky is the limit for the 2009 Packers.
"Weve got a chance at winning the whole thing, I believe," said Woodson after the Packers jog-through practice Sunday. "Still got a long way to go. Were not there yet, but we have a chance."
When asked if other players share his sentiments, Woodson said: "I dont know, it doesn't matter. That's my answer and I'll ride with it."
So why is Woodson so enthusiastic? It starts with the new 3-4 scheme. The way Woodson sees it, bringing in defensive coordinator Dom Capers and a new staff was like adding an impact free agent.
"I think bringing him in, bringing the scheme, the 3-4, and then those coaches, is definitely the biggest acquisition this year," said Woodson, who forced three fumbles against Arizona in the Packers preseason game Friday night.
The difference between last year and this year is like night and day.
"This defense, there's so many different packages, so many different ways you can attack an offense. You can keep an offense on their heels, as long as everybody knows what they're doing, their assignments. Its tough for teams to pick that up. Theres a lot to this defense. I think weve handled the transition pretty well."
If it were up to Woodson, the season would start right now.
"With Dom coming in, this new scheme, I dont think Ive ever been more excited, or more ready to get the season underway than this year," he said.
