I'm happy with this starting 5. I'm actually very excited about Barbre, this last game his name was mentioned a lot on our good running plays. That's all that I ask for, is our OL names being called out for good blocks, not mental mistakes. Good luck front 5, we've been waiting for a solid lineup for too long now.

The article bodes well for him staying on the roster and part of the 2009 plans for the Packers. Excellent.

"Don't count me out," Wells said. "It's a little blow, but it's not the end. So you have to stay the course and try to maintain a positive attitude and see how everything shakes out in the long run."

When is Wells contract up? He's too competitive to be somewhere he has no chance to start IMO. Might we loose him through free agency? Should we trade him while we can get some value?

I think that he signed a 5-year, $15 million deal in 2006. I hope that we can trade him, although I don't think that we'll get a whole lot more than a 5th, max.

Like you said, I don't know if he'll be happy as a back-up over here, although his contract isn't that bad.

Thanks. At least we don't really have to worry about loosing him through free agency and we will have a very solid back up. So I guess the question becomes, will we have a disgruntled player on the roster.

Basically, I don't give a rat's ass if he's disgruntled, if he needs to play then so be it. He better be ready cause he is making a lot of coin for a substitute.

Secondly, it would be irresponsible to trade him until we draft a center to groom. I can't believe we didn't take one this year with a deep class of centers.

Thirdly we all get caught up in these player's feelings. They are paid professionals, actually they are assets to be moved around at the will of the leaders of the team. I understand the college feeling around the Pack but I won't get caught up in the emotions of any of these guys especially when those greedy agents use them like a sales pitch and unethical, irresponsible journalists just scrape up crap to print.

I think Spitz is that center to Groom, and is what has been happening. Only taken longer because he was needed at guard. But I believe the plan from the beginning with him is to take over at C.

This is some great news for a team not real deep at the tackle position.

Packers: Healthy Clifton feels renewed

But as he looked at the restructured offensive line, Clifton wasnt thinking about being replaced. Instead, he was thinking about playing several more years.

I feel good. Honestly, this is probably the best Ive felt in a few years in camp, Clifton said. I think Ive taken quite a few more reps this year in practice, and so far, so good. The knees are holding up real well, the shoulders feel good, so Im just keeping my fingers crossed and hoping it keeps going like this.

I certainly hope Im back next year, man. Thatll play itself out, I just want to come out and perform well this year and that other stuff will take care of itself down the road. I certainly feel like I have a few more years left.
