Ok vikesrule, here I am in the "we welcome you" section so that I can tell you about myself. I did grow up in a "Packer home" (in Appleton, WI) so I've been a fan ever since I can remember. But when I was in middle school, that is when I really started to follow and understand the game. I went to college in Minnesota and ironically ended up working at the Metrodome! So I am sure you can understand how my dad thought this was blasphemous! But it was a blast and I really enjoyed working for Vikings games, Twins games, monster truck rallies and other special events. And I was able to watch one game versus the Packers as well as scoring some Packers merchandise at cost so that was always a bonus. Now that I live out here in DC/Northern Virigina, I have to make much more of an effort to be a fan and see the games. I even have Packer pictures on my cubicle door at work so its amazing the random people that will stop by and say "oh you're a Packer fan!" and then find out they are from WI themselves or just like the Packers too. So its been a great "networking" tool for me as I start my career - who would have thought! Anyways, my husband is not much into sports but I converted him to a Packer/Favre fan (not that he really had a choice in the matter!) so at least we don't have to argue over what team we're watching on Sundays!

Nice intro.

Gonna give you a total waiver on the whole knowing and/or listening to Vikesrule aspect, as nobody's perfect.

I'm a Wisconsin guy that got demoted to the whole D.C. thing. Alexandria, most of the time. I feel that pain. As an expert drunkard, (wonder how long that one will take to gravitate into Nick's sig) I used to know all the hangouts for Packer fans there. The best by far was Mr. Day's place in D.C. --- unfortunately they shut down. The Damon's in Springfield had a crapload of Packer fans...I think they are still there...

Looking forward to reading some more of your stuff!

We live in Alexandria right now actually! I've just been going to a local bar around the corner because they play all the games, but we're usually one of only a handful of Packer fans. I don't mind that so much as the smoke - can't wait for VA to be smoke free too!

You are in luck. My Mr. Day's reference...closed down? Nope!

Moved to Arlington.

There will be hundreds of Packer fans there. Check this out!

AM 620 Behind enemy lines

You gotta go. If it is 1/10th as good as the old Mr. Days, you will go into shock at how awesome this place is.

Hell, I might drive down there for this!

Sweet! We will have to check that place out for sure! Sounds like a blast - it would be nice to be around lots of Packer fans again, I've almost forgotten what that's like! Definitely appreciate the tip!

Welcome Packerette!

It so very good to see a fine young Minnesota educated girl around here. U of M?

Very interesting story about working your way through college at the Metrodome.
I'll bet that did frost your Dad's shorts!

Conversing with cheesehead guys is a true challenge.
But female Packer fans are a tolerable lot. Plus they are much more pleasing to the eye, and smell a whole heck of lot better.

One word of career advice....
Attempting to network by putting Packer pictures on your cubicle are a definite career destroyer.
It will completely negate that outstanding Minnesota education.
You might as well put up a sign that says:
1.) I have no rational thought processes.
2.) I follow the herd.
3.) I like to drink cheap beer
4.) And my family tree has no branches.

Bwaaahaaa! :onfloor:

Seriously, welcome. Post often

But be very wary of any advice offered by dfosterf.
He is one grumpy old cheesehead (not quite right in the head, if you know what I mean)!

Thank you for the warm reception ladies! I will do my best to represent! And vikesrule...aren't you in the wrong forum? 🙂 But you are here so that must mean Packer fans are better to socialize with than vikes fans! Can't argue with that logic, right? And yes, we are pleasing to look at and smell good 🙂 Flattery will get you everywhere...

You are quick of wit young cheesehead. The time that you spent in Minnesota did you well.
Your sense of humor will prove most valuable in the upcoming debacle that is destined to be the Packers 2009 season.

As why I am here....tis a long story.

Long ago in a land far, far way the mighty Thor came to me in a vision.

And Thor said "vikesrule, you are chosen among the the Purple faithful to venture forth. To venture forth and seek out the poor unfortunates of the world.
Those that are most woeful and misguided. I speak of none more sorrowful than.....than the cheeseheads"

I was trembling with dread at such a daunting task that might be in store for me.
And I said " Mighty Thor, what is it that you wish me to do when I encounter such miserable souls as the cheeseheads.

Thor replied "vikesrule you are to travel to lands of these poor wretches, and show them the light.
You shall enlighten them as to the great error of their ways. For they worship the demon cheese, and as such are destined to eternal perdition."

And so I began my pilgrimage, to pursue my ordained quest. While I have suffered many travails in my long journey, I shall not rest.

I shall not rest until I have accomplished the task of rescuing the poor cheeseheads and guide them to truth, justice, and righteous football fandom.

And so for several years, I have been searching for the "eternally lost".
And believe me, this place is a plethora of truly castaway souls.

By the way Packerette, are you a sporting (betting) woman?

wpr (8h) : 7 days
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : sounds like Packers don't get good compensation, Jaire staying
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Nobody coming up with a keep, but at x amount
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Trade, cut or keep
dfosterf (16-Apr) : that from Jaire
dfosterf (16-Apr) : My guess is the Packers floated the concept of a reworked contract via his agent and agent got a f'
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Yes, and that is why I think Rob worded it how he did. Rather than say "agent"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Same laws apply. Agent must present such an offer to Jaire. Cannot accept or reject without presenting it
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : I'm thinking that is why Rob worded it how he did.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The Packers can certainly still make the offer to the agent
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Laws of agency and definition of fiduciary responsibility
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Jaire is open to a reduced contract without Jaire's permission
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The agent would arguably violate the law if he were to tell the Packers
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : That someone ... likely the agent.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : So, Jaire has not been offered nor rejected a pay reduction, but someone says he'd decline.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovksy says t was direct communication with someone familiar with Jaire’s line of thinking at that moment.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovsky just replied to me a bit ago. Jaire hasn't said it.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Of course, that depends on the definition of "we"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : We have been told that they haven't because he wouldn't accept it. I submit we don't know that
dfosterf (16-Apr) : What is the downside in making a calculated reduced offer to Jaire?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers are receiving interest in Jaire Alexander but a trade is not imminent
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Jalen Ramsey wants to be traded. He's never happy is he?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : two 1sts in 2022 and two 2nd's in 2023 and 2024
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers had fortunate last three drafts.
dfosterf (15-Apr) : I may have to move
dfosterf (15-Apr) : My wife just told the ancient Japanese sushi dude not enough rice under his fish
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I think a dozen is what I need
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Go fund me for this purpose just might work. A dozen nurses show up at 1265 to provide mental health assistance.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Maybe send a crew of Angels to the Packers draft room on draft day.
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I am the Angel that gets visited.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Visiting Angels has a pretty good reputation
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : what
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : WINNING IT, not someone else losing it. The best victory though was re-uniting with his wife
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : The manner in which he won it was just amazing and wonderful. First blowing the lead then getting back, then blowing it. But ultimately
Zero2Cool (12-Apr) : I'm guessing since the thumb was broken, he wasn't feeling it.
dfosterf (10-Apr) : Looking for guidance. Not feeling the thumb.
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : If they knew about it or not
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : I don't recall that he did which is why I asked.
Zero2Cool (10-Apr) : Guessing they probably knew. Did he have cast or something on?
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : Did they know that at the time or was that something the realized afterwards?
Zero2Cool (9-Apr) : Van Ness played most of season with broken thumb
wpr (9-Apr) : yay
Zero2Cool (9-Apr) : Mark Murphy says Steelers likely to protect Packers game. Meaning, no Ireland
Zero2Cool (8-Apr) : Struggling to figure out what text editor options are needed and which are 'nice to have'
Mucky Tundra (8-Apr) : *CHOMP CHOMP CHOMP*
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : WR who said he'd break Xavier Worthy 40 time...and ran slower than you
Mucky Tundra (2-Apr) : Who?
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : Texas’ WR Isaiah Bond is scheduled to visit the Bills, Browns, Chiefs, Falcons, Packers and Titans starting next week.
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : Spotting ball isn't changing, only measuring distance is, Which wasn't the issue.
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : The spotting of the ball IS the issue. Not the chain gang.
