The contract that Michael Crabtree ultimately signed with the 49ers ties millions in base-salary escalators to at least 90 percent participation in all activities -- mandatory and voluntary. The provision has come to be known as a "diva clause."
And so with voluntary offseason workouts launching on Monday, the reformed diva was there 30 minutes early for Day One, right?
Well, no.
Matt Maiocco of the Santa Rosa Press Democrat reports that Crabtree missed Monday and Tuesday, before showing up on Wednesday.
Though each Friday is set aside as a make-up day, Crabtree at best will be at 75 percent for the first week of his first set of offseason workouts.
And so we suspect that the 49ers likely are echoing Elaine in "The Contest": "This is gonna be the easiest money I've ever made in my life."
