Anyway, how crazy would that be if Tom Watson won this thing?! Tiger misses the cut, and Watson is in the lead. Craziness!

With no Tiger, I'm going to root for Tom.

To those that are tired of Tiger, etc.

I guess I can understand, but I just want to say...

Best golfer, ever. Not even close.

I consider myself lucky to be a witness.

I grew up a Jack Nicklaus aficionado, and I'm pretty sure that Jack himself would tell you the exact same thing.

I have to root for Tom, and Mark Calcavecchia would be my personal plan "B", but that isn't going to inspire me anything close to another run at it by Tiger vs. the field.

I bet the ratings still fall like a stone, even with Tom in contention, and I like him just fine, Mark as well, especially factoring in the geezer aspect.

I agree about "The open", b.s. as well.

We got nicer public courses here in the U.S. than those rat's nests they brag about over there, lol.

An old coach of mine in high school track once said, "Don't sit on your glories. There is ALWAYS somebody better than you out there just waiting to to show you up."

It doesn't matter how old or young you are and how good you THINK you are. Somebody, on any given day, is going to play just a bit better than you and beat you.

I hope old Watty can hang on and put one up for us "old" guys.

This is "THE" Open...

Ask any player what championship they would want to win the most and the "British Open" is it.

The Masters is a close second.

I went to Birkdale last year on the Satuday and it was a truly wonderful event.

What a disappointing ending. The way he hit that putt on 18, I did not feel good about his chances going into the playoff. It was like the clock struck midnight and he turned back into a 59-year-old golfer.

It was amazing that he held it together as long as he did. If he had won, it would've been the sports story of the year.
