They reported that MJ is being buried in a gold casket.

I wonder if in a thousand years they will call him our emperor.

THIS JUST IN: MICHAEL JACKSON IS STILL DEAD.

CNN told me this one, because I wasn't certain. Bug yet, they hasn't told me anything about the biggest bill in history being passed my congress and the millions of jobs being lost. I wonder why...

Considering the condition he was in when they found him, what with the 50 something kg and pills in his stomach, it's no wonder he died. I can't believe he, or anybody close to him, would permit such a thing.

Edit: As of this moment, 2 out of the 3 largest commercial free to air channels in Australia are airing a delayed broadcast of his memorial/funeral. It sickens me the celebrity worship we have in this world. I am INFURIATED right now. Who cries for the kids who die of malaria in Africa every day? Are they standing in a line to lay wreaths? Who's broadcasting the memorial of the child killed walking home in a warzone? It makes me so angry. He's just a man. His death is just as tragic as anyone else's and no more so.

100% agreed, the media coverage this has gotten is ridiculous to me..

Idolization I guess never changes.. we at times seem to worship "false" gods a little to heavy.

Makes you really wonder about our value system as a society doesn't it.

As far as "permitting" such a thing. When you are that rich, people are afraid to tell you "NO!" for fear of losing their jobs. Look at Elvis Presley for just such an account. 3 of his closest friends that had been with him from the time he was a kid and worked for him all those years TRIED to get him to stop the drugs, and they got one weeks severance pay and canned.
And yes, it is over kill the way people "worship" stars today. I have lost more family members then i can count, and there was no motorcade or big show. My Dad died at 44, and he wasn't misusing prescription drugs. He just had a massive heart attack. But you know what? It was in the middle of a blizzard, yet the funeral home was packed, standing room only. There were not a bunch of people that didn't KNOW him there, it was all people that knew him and loved him. No one was there just so they could say "I was at his funeral!"

dfosterf (4h) : Meathead "journalists" skip this, concentrating on operational revenue when convenient. They switch when net revenue is more favorable.

Mucky Tundra (6h) : also, no bueno when a guy starts getting concussions right off the bat in his career
