Now that it seems like a lock that we'll soon be seeing Favre in purple, I wanted to respond to a quote of Favre's from Joe Buck Live. The quote was this:
"There are those people who are in your corner no matter what. You can't do any wrong, even when you do wrong. And then there's those people that, no matter what you do, they're going to dislike you, and that's not going to change. And then theres the rest that dont give a (expletive)."
To me, he's leaving out a huge group of people. Namely, the majority of Packer fans. Favre covered three groups of people: Brett Favre fans, Brett Favre haters, and people that are apathetic towards Brett Favre.
Once again, to Favre, it's all about himself. Favre doesn't care if you like the team he's playing for; only if you like him.
Brett Favre loves to feel loved, and if you care about him, he'll care about you. Ron Wolf traded for Favre, and that regime cared about him. The new regime, however, didn't love him enough to welcome him back after he retired.
As a result, Brett Favre doesn't care about this regime, and thus doesn't care about the current Packers. Brett Favre cared about the people that ran the Packers, not the Packers itself. Because of all of this, it'll be easy for Favre to throw on a Vikings jersey. He won't be hurting Brett Favre fans, and he won't be directly hurting the old regime. Instead, he'll only be hurting the current Packers, and the Packer fans who always valued the team more than any single player. And obviously Favre doesn't care if he's hurting those kinds of people.
When Brett finally does retire, he won't by living by Packer fans. He'll live in Mississippi, surrounded by Brett Favre fans. I doubt he'll make many trips to Green Bay, and I doubt a lot of people in Green Bay will want him to after this season.
Thanks for reading. Have a fun day.
