Good post California i was going to bring that up and you beat me to it and probably put it better than i would have. I gave you a +1.

I remember discussing this a few months ago and the CBA could be a big part of all of this.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

As far as I know we haven't signed anyone who has a contract running out in a year. Maybe this could be the reason why no one has really been signed yet. Correct me if I'm wrong though.

I doubt thats the reason because if the CBA is worked out, then we will be trying to sign a bunch of guys while fighting off other teams for them. Plus we would only be able to franchise one of them.

Surely Ted Thompson wants to keep his best players happy, especially those who lead by example and are currently underpaid.

Sure he could leave Jennings hanging on for another season and franchise him but is that really his style?

It would seem to make more sense to reward Jennings for playing it straight and not being a jerk like most top wide receivers.

I read somewhere Ted Thompson has never paid massive amounts for WRs. He has a knack of drafting the position well so maybe thinks he can find a replacement for Jennings.

I hope he doesn't go that route, A-Rod and Jennings could be a fearsome combo for years.

British, you got to what I was focused on. CBA or not, under contract or not, a precedent has been set in the NFL where it's OK to bitch and hold out if you're drastically underpaid. Fair or not, it's the truth, and lets be honest, Jennings is well underpaid, and in regards to the precedent has every right to be a royal pain in the ass, yet hasn't been.

I certainly hope they are able to work something out. Greg Jennings seems like a really nice guy, and represents the Packers organization well.

Looks like both sides are getting closer to getting an extension done.

Mucky Tundra (5-Jan) : Thst line seems...generous
