I also believe it is a little high but if that is what it took to keep him in GB so be it.

I will gladly give Ted Thompson credit for getting this done.

I'll be honest, I don't know the details of his contract. Can someone share them again? I'm sure its in this 10 pages somewhere.

I don't think anybody here truly believes that Jennings is a god or Rodgers does no wrong. What it boils down to is, do you support them or do you criticize them? That's all it is. Some people here support them. Some people here criticize them. Most people tend to ONLY do one or the other because they either like the player or they don't.

Based on the market, this is what Jennings was going to get. There was absolutely no shocker about it being too little or too much.

I actually think it was good for both parties. I'd put Jennings not in the top 5, but at least in the top half of starting WRs. From a fantasy perspective, he was 12th in '07 and 4th in '08. The reason I can't honestly put him in the top 5 is I can't honestly take him over Randy Moss, TO (I hate TO, but he's a top tier WR), Steve Smith, Larry Fitzgerald, Andre Johnson, and Calvin Johnson. The thing is, I love Wes Welker, but I think I'd put Gregorious slightly over Welker. As for Boldin, tough call. I'd say a wash.

So yeah, top 10, not top 5 though. As someone already said, the deal is good in the long run because 2 years from now, blah blah blah will make XYZ amount of money and it will make it look like we got a good deal for Gregorious.

Great signing - money looks to be a little inflated, but as someone already pointed out, you have to over-pay occasionally. Stats are half the story in this case, if not less - Jennings is a high-character, team-first player and a hell of a WR. I don't give two little shits if he's top 10, top 15, or top 5, he's the best WR on the team and has great chemistry w/ our starting QB for the foreseeable future.

And yes, Hazer does hate Thompson and will generally find an angle with which to criticize him. He's also stated openly that he's not particularly a fan of any player currently on the team's roster (so that would include Jennings, you see). At this point those facts are far less surprising to me than the fact that everyone here hasn't already figured that out.

What's funny is two weeks ago the guy was saying Jennings probably won't get signed and clubbing Thompson over the head. Now that it's gotten done he finds a new angle to pull the whip.

IF he is being overpaid which remains to be seen because I have a feeling this will look like a bargain two years from now I am o.k. with it because he far outperformed what he got the first three years.

So at the end of the seven years for both contracts he will be a bargain when you look at what the other top four or five WR's that have been in the league that long were paid over that period.

Besides, when you figure the next four years will be the most productive of his career the deal isn't just way out there out of line. Not enough to groan over or consider redulous anyway.

They can't cover the guy and he's in his prime. Pay him.

No actually most people on here have criticized both Rodgers and Jennings when they don't do well. In Jennings case that is such a rarity that it would seem nobody ever does. However there are a few on here who will criticize certain players and personnel no matter what they do. The difference between these people and somebody like Pack93z is that he posts on a variety of subjects besides being critical at times.

Musccy i am used to it i can say the same exact things that others like PackZ say and i'm making it out as bad but they get positive feedback on it. But like i said i'm used to it, just like people call me a Favre lover and i really never thought of him as a god.

With all that said i will probably get a purple #4 jersey and i will wear it just like i wear my driver jerseys and even my damn Rodgers jersey. Btw Mass i don't have no blocks but i have a Wii i'm hooking up today and will be playing before i head down to Thunder in the Valley to drink some beer and check out all the women.

Also yes i do play devils advocate because it keeps the boards going, i just don't get into the Jennings is god and Rodgers does no wrong stuff after all they are human and we all make mistakes.

I don't bitch about it Steve find one post where i bitch about people saying bs to me? I'm a big boy and can take care of myself and i would also love to go hunting with Dakota out in the badlands. Its been awhile since i got to shout my AR-15 😛

As far as someone saying posters don't make Jennings out to be god and Rodgers does no wrong must have selective reading syndrome. Hell look at the shoutbox :p

Once again i will say it was a great signing by the Packers and a real great job by Jennings agent if he is the one that picked the length because otherwise Jennings was screwed and was stuck in Green Bay with a small paycheck for the same amount of time. It's good all the way around.

BTW Zero this was the last thing on saw on the contract.

Packers star WR Greg Jennings has agreed to terms on his new deal with the team.

Jennings, who was due to make the veteran minimum in 2009, the final year of his rookie contract, has agreed to a new deal that will run through the 2012 season, according to a league source. He will earn a maximum of $31 million in the deal, should he reach the $5 million in incentives.

Jennings will earn about $16 million in 2009, between his signing bonus and base salary.

I still can't believe $16 million for one year for a wr thats just plain nuts but i'm sure its front end loaded.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)
