Should the Packers extend Kampmans contract? I say yes. I'm not saying go nutso with it. I do think it should be extended. They keep saying base defense is only played what, 40 percent of the time right? Only 3 sacks in the base, right? I think he should be extended contractually regardless of the scheme. You know what you're going to get with Kampman. Which is a helluva good player who will never quit.

I'm not saying we need to drop everything right NOW to sign him, just saying, he deserves an extension as well as others. SO keep the 'so an so' needs a contract first, business. This isn't about that.

This is, should Kampman be extended contractually?

should Kampman be extended contractually?

I say it all depends how he plays/fits in the new system. I say let him play at least 6 games before making a judgment.

If he can't fit the system then no... and if he can't I think it would be more of a mental thing.

If he does fit the dollar amount will depend on how well he plays.

I think kampman is the sort of player that is going to work hard, and excel in any thing he does. So i wouldn't at all be apposed to giving him an extension.

I think so. If he does well, that's a win for us. I think he'll do pretty good at the elephant position and maybe dropping back just a little sometimes. I think that he'll go up from last year (statistically), mainly because he had a horrible year statistically. He might struggle a little earlier on, though.

Even if he does not pan out, a contract extension would be in the Packers best interest. If I'm correct, he's in his final year and if he won't be producing on a high level, he'll just go off in FA and we'll get nothing in return. If he struggles, gets only a sack or two and can't get used to covering, we at least can trade him for, at minimum, a 2nd rounder to a 4-3 team.

I'd give the extension.
Cause if he DOESN'T work out (which i think he will do GREAT!) you can always get rid of him. Why not make him happy, and extend it?

Not now.

Pay Jennings and Collins in my view and franchise Kampman. You need to see what he does in this scheme. Yes he's earned a raise, but football is still business when it comes to contracts and Kampman will get his loot from someone. GB just needs to decide whether or not it's them. There is no sense in paying him if he doesn't make the transition or flat out refuses to go along with it once he struggles. I think he will make the transition, but looking at it through the business perspective, better be safe than sorry is the most appropriate approach.

I agree with Porky on not paying Kampman and should extend Jennings, but as far as Collins i say have fun on the bench play out your contract and earn it and not from just one year.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

Yeah I get some of the Collins backlash, but I kind of feel that letting Collins go now would be a mistake. He's an above average safety even at worse and they're just not many safeties that are good in the NFL. You have your really good ones and then it really gets kind of weak. I think letting Collins go would be tough, but he's an RFA anyways since I doubt they'll be a cap next year so I'm not that concerned.

I guess I should have just made this a poll since this Collings, Jennings talk was inevitable. lol Oh well, ... :(

If anyone has anymore to say about Kampman getting or not getting a contract, I'd love to read it! If its about Collins or Jennings or someone else, I don't care. In fact, we'll start a NEW thread because that is a interesting discussion as well!

Zero2Cool (19-Feb) : NFL informed teams today that the 2025 salary cap will be roughly $277.5M-$281.5M
Zero2Cool (19-Feb) : Los Angeles Chargers are likely to release DE Joey Bosa this off-season as a cap casualty, per league source.
Zero2Cool (18-Feb) : If the exploit is not fixed, we'll see tons of "50 top free agents, 50 perfect NFL team fits: We picked where each should sign in March" lo

Zero2Cool (18-Feb) : It should be halted now.
Mucky Tundra (18-Feb) : usually spambots are trying to get traffic to shady websites filled with spyware; the two links being spammed were to the Packers website
Mucky Tundra (18-Feb) : you know when you put it that way combined with the links it was spamming (to the official Packers website)
Zero2Cool (18-Feb) : Yep. You can do that with holding down ENTER on a command in Console of browser
