I love this part ...

Mason Crosby's 38-yard attempt was blocked, leaving Rodgers 0-8 this season when trailing by less than eight points with less than 5 minutes to play.

So in 3:00 A-Rod moved them what 16 yards?

Put the ball in the endzone and you don't have to worry about the field goal.

Good point! Let's evaluate this.

9-R.Gould kicks 52 yards from CHI 30 to GB 18. 27-
W.Blackmon pushed ob at 50 for 32 yards (29-A.Peterson).
1-10-CHI 35 	(3:05) 12-A.Rodgers pass incomplete short left to 82-R.Martin.
2-10-CHI 35 	(3:01) 12-A.Rodgers pass short left to 85-G.Jennings to CHI 33 for 2 yards (21-C.Graham).
3-8-CHI 33 	(2:20) (Shotgun) 12-A.Rodgers pass short left to 89-J.Jones to CHI 24 for 9 yards (21-C.Graham).

When the ball was in Rodgers hands, incomplete, 2 yard completion, 9 yard completion for a first down. Looks like Rodgers is moving the chains.

We get a fresh set of downs at the two minute mark.
Two-Minute Warning
1-10-CHI 24 	(2:00) 25-R.Grant right end to CHI 23 for 1 yard (96-A.Brown).
Timeout #3 by CHI at 01:54.
2-9-CHI 23 	(1:54) 25-R.Grant right tackle to CHI 19 for 4 yards (93-A.Ogunleye).
3-5-CHI 19 	(1:11) 25-R.Grant left guard to CHI 20 for -1 yards (44-K.Payne, 93-A.Ogunleye).
Timeout #2 by GB at 00:25.
4-6-CHI 20 	(:25) 2-M.Crosby 38 yard field goal is BLOCKED (96-A.Brown),
Center-61-B.Goode, Holder-10-M.Flynn, ball out of bounds at CHI 23.

What's this? Grant 1 yd, Grant 4 yds (thats better), Grant -1 yd (wtf), blocked FG which was a poor kick per Mike McCarthy.

So, Aaron got us a first down, then the coach took the ball out of his hands and ran the ball three straight times and then Crosby kicks it too low and this is all Rodgers fault?

btw, I am by NO means saying Rodgers is a good comeback QB or anything like that. I'm just trying to be fair here. And in THIS case, I don't see how anyone can legitmately blame Rodgers for the Bears game loss. I think more of it is on McCarthy and Crosby.

Rodgers got 3 plays and got them a first down at the Chicago 24. We then ran it 3 times for 4 more yards total. Essentially, they asked Rodgers to get them in extremely easy field goal range, he did, and they played for the field goal. Don't make it out like Rodgers failed on that drive by not putting it in the end zone when he wasn't given a shot at it.

He did throw an incomplete pass. He also failed to lead them to a score earlier in the quarter.

To many variables come into play to say one way or the other. Using the criteria however this falls into the group and it rightly should for Brett as well.

Then you mention failing to score earlier in the quarter, what about in the third quarter, or how about the first half? Now you're not talking about come backs, you're talking about how they played during the game. How about Favre's comeback against KC, the only one he had last year (the defense scoring a td to win the game against Buffalo does not get credited to Favre). Well he single handedly made sure that the Chiefs were even in that game by throwing 3 picks, 2 of which directly led to 14 of KC's 24 points. He then orchestrated the comeback drive and credit to him for doing that. Still, he wouldn't have a comeback last year if he hadn't fucked up so horribly leading up to that drive. So if you want to talk about other variables you have to keep that much in mind.

and yet people give Brett credit for this win

Can you guess what game it was?

1-10-** 31 (:59) 32-B.Jackson up the middle to PHI 30 for 1 yard

2-9-** 30 (:51) 32-B.Jackson right tackle to PHI 23 for 7 yards

3-2-** 23 (:15) 4-B.Favre kneels to PHI 25 for -2 yards.
Timeout #1 by GB at 00:06.

4-4-** 25 (:06) 2-M.Crosby 42 yard field goal is GOOD, Center-60-R.Davis, Holder-9-J.Ryan.

Plays: 4 Possession: 0:57

2-M.Crosby kicks 39 yards from GB 30 to *** 31. ***

47 for 16 yards. *** pass incomplete short right to -***. PENALTY on ***, Illegal Forward Pass, 5 yards, enforced at *** 47.

2 runs, and a kneel by Brett for a 42 FG attempt and Fg is made, but Brett gets the credit?

Week - Opponent / With 4:00 remaining, closest the score was / Outcome (Brief summary)

Week 1 - Vikings / 24 - 12 / Win
Week 2 - Lions / 34 - 25 / Win
Week 3 - Cowboys / 27 - 16 / Lost
Week 4 - Buccaneers / 21 - 23 / Lost (Rodgers throws INT, Buccaneers score TD to seal the game)
Week 5 - Falcons / 27 - 24 / Lost (Packers TD at 1:56 mark, Falcons ran the clock out.)
Week 6 - Seahawks / 27 - 17 / Win
Week 7 - Colts / 34 - 14 / Win
Week 9 - Titans / 16 - 16 / Lost (OT, Titans won coin flip, scored.)
Week 10 - Vikings / 28 - 27 / Lost (Crosby misses 52 yard FG with :31 left)
Week 11 - Bears / 37 - 3 / Win
Week 12 - Saints / 45 - 29 / Lost
Week 13 - Panthers / 31 - 28 / Lost (Packers score FG with 2:00 left to lead by 3. Panthers scored a TD to take 4 point with :90 on clock, Rodgers throws INT on second play of drive.)
Week 14 - Texans / 21 - 21 / Lost (Packers tied game at 6:00 with TD, Texans go 75 yds, FG to take lead, Packers did not get the ball after the FG.)
Week 15 - Jaguars / 16 - 20 / Lost (Packers with ball, 1:50 remaining, Rodgers throw's INT, game over.)
Week 16 - Bears / 17 - 17 / Lost (Crosby misses 38 yard FG with :25), game goes to OT, Bears won coin flip, scored.)
Week 17 - Lions / 31 - 21 / Win

There is EIGHT games we were within EIGHT points of taking the lead for the win. So, it is accurate to say that the Packers (or Rodgers for those who are bias against him) were 0 - 8 with 4:00 minutes to go and one score of taking the lead.

Here is how I lay the blame on five of the games that I feel we should have pulled out a WIN.

Buccaneers = Rodgers
Vikings = Crosby
Panthers = Rodgers (even though we took the lead by three with 2:00 to go, he had another chance)
Jaguars = Rodgers
Bears = Crosby

3 fall on Rodgers, 2 fall on Crosby and the other 3 fall on the 'team' effort.

In my opinion, Rodgers could have given us three more wins, but failed. Crosby could have added two more wins, and failed.

I am NOT going to do this for Favre because from dd80's comments I can see exactly where he'll turn it into and I am really, really, REALLY tired of that shtick.
