Jay Cutler went from a team with good WR's to a team that hasn't seen a good WR since playing the Packers. Not to mention his current team has never had a 4,000 yard passer.

Aaron Kampman is going from DE to OLB where it appears he is not happy about the switch at all. (I still think he's more ticked at the media an the attention thats put on him, but different thread).

Who will succeed greater than the other? Will Cutler be the first 4k passer for the Bears? Will Kampman break the 16 sack mark?

What do ya think?

I think that neither will get there in their first season. I'm expecting some awkward games at first from both players. Kampman struggling with dropping back and having to go those extra yards to get to the QB. Cutler with the lack of a decent WR (Although he does have some good TEs and and good HB).

Eventually, I think they'll both get there, though. I think that Kampman will get something around 16 sacjks in his second year, if he gets over 8 sacks in his first (Otherwise, he's not playing for us anymore, I think).

Cutler will get there eventually, as well. I think it'll a little longer, because I think they want to develop their young WRs. (Devin Hester and their 3 draft picks this year)

It's all just guessing, though.

I expect Kampman to play better next year than Cutler. Kampman will be getting a significant chunk of defensive plays as a defensive end in a 4-3 package (if I recall correctly they said something like 30-40%) and that should help the transition. Also, I think Kampman's work ethic and drive will get him there faster than Cutler. That's not to say I don't think Cutler will succeed in Chicago. I'm actually worried that he'll be their first good quarterback in my lifetime but I expect his growing pains to be greater with Chicago than Kampman's are switching positions.

Kampy will have a solid year. He will get double digit sacks.

Cutler will struggle.

Cutler is a punk. Trying to be objective, but these are simply my thoughts. Kampy has one of the best work ethics in the game. Period.

Kampy will generate sacks. Dom knows what he's doing. He's one of the better guys at his role.

Cutler is on a team with a Coach who is a mastermind at D and a complete moron when it comes to O. He will not be used correctly. There is a big drop off at receiver.

Now, don't look at Cutler's yardage count. It means nothing. Look at his total TDs at the end of the season. If I remember correctly, he got 25 last year (which is less than Aaron). Aaron will get a lot more than Cutler in '09. It won't be close. And Cutler will throw a lot more INTs.

Welcome to da Bears, Cutler. By the end of '09, he will be thinking to himself "why the **** did I do that?"

Well with an open mind I say Cutler will have the better year. I see AK getting maybe 8 sacks this year and Cutler getting like 3800 yards 25 tds. People say Cutler has no wrs but yet did anyone think Jennings was a stud when drafted (i admit i was like who the hell is that) How many wrs on the Packers through the years weren't though to be good but when the star went down the next one stepped up.

AK is going to be ok at OLB but not going to be the stud. Also please remember we play at least 4 teams that are used to scheming against the 3-4 so it won't be a shock to them. That alone will take away some of his stats.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

I think that throwing a lot of yards, (often by sacrificing yards per attempt), is a lot easier than actually getting to a QB and recording a sack at least once a game, every game.

But as Zombie said, it doesn't matter how many yards Cutler throws for. TD/INT ratio or QB rating is more important.

My prediction is that Kampman will actually have less sacks this season, probably around 8-10, but similar amount of hurries compared to last season. I hypothesise that this is because Kampman rushing the gaps will force opponents to throw the ball earlier than usual for most plays, rather expecting the blocks to stop Kampman (and others) shooting through the gaps. If you know there's a good chance that the Packers will exploit gaps in the blocking, the QB surely would naturally try and get the ball out sooner.

lol what the hell does the Packers WR corp have to do with the Bears WR's?

Bears, one WR, Hester and he's not even that good of a WR! He's a slamdunk KR/PR, that's it.

I think Kampman will either flourish big time or fizzle in the new scheme. I don't see an in between.

I wouldn't be too surprised if the Bears TE gets 1,000 and the RB catches for 2,500. I don't see the Bears stretching the field much unless they sacrifice their return game.

I brought up the Packer wrs in reference to people saying the Bears have no wrs, but then again have they had a qb? Our wrs were noones at first and look now one is classified as god on this board so why can't the Bear wrs turn out to be good.

You know that that took at least a year of grooming. And even at the start of his second season, he wasn't that great.

Add to that the guy that the took highest was a 3rd rounder, the rest is all lower than that and the only way that Hester will catch more balls is if he puts stick-um on his gloves.

What does the round drafted in have to do with how good they are? I guess Driver must suck then.
