Now I have played some myself. Bye weeks, injuries, and crappy draft position always screw you up.

Fantasy Football isn't pleasant dinner conversation.

Late in the season when you want another team to the one that is contending with the Packers for playoff positioning you don't want someone going giddy for the wrong team.

You know an idiot will post it on this board proudly as if he had something to do with a player winning a game for a team that sets the Packers back in playoff positioning.

"I don't care, that guy's on my fantasy team!" are words that lead to a lot of trouble.

Actually, Fantasy Football provides some good conversation for me and my family / friends. I always start at least one league with a decent group of my family and friends, many of which don't live around me and I rarely see. It's unfortunate, but we don't talk a whole lot. But the fantasy football message boards and such give us yet another avenue and another reason to communicate. I play fantasy ball with my dad, mom, step-dad, cousins, girlfriend, old school friends, and extended family. I've gotten more and more people into it over the past few years and it's actually quite enjoyable. Injuries and bye weeks will only screw you over if you're not prepared, just like real football. =)

It doesn't really matter to me a whole lot if someone is rooting against the team I'm going for. There aren't a ton of Packer fans down here anyway, and I don't expect everyone to think like I do or to support the same team as I do. Most of us at these forums have to remember that the majority of the people probably aren't as big of fans as we. But it's still fun to watch the games with others most of the time, regardless who they're rooting for.

Another thing fantasy football is good for is when your team is totally out of the playoff hunt and such. It at least gives a little more spice to the games (and trust me, once the Packers are out, they lose a LOT of spice to me, but I still watch them anyway).

My fantasy team: EXC PACK!

Starters:

Cassel, Matt QB KC

Peterson, Adrian RB MIN
Brown, Ronnie RB MIA

Jennings, Greg WR GB
Wayne, Reggie WR IND
Braylon, Edwards WR CLE

Daniels, Owen TE HOU
Gould, Robbie K CHI
Eagles DST (Defense/Special Teams)

Reserves:
Edwards, Trent QB BUF
Bradshaw, Ahmad RB NYG
Taylor, Fred RB NE
Smith, Steve WR NYG
Celek, Brent TE PHI

That's my team, don't tell me I wasted a pick on Braylon! I got him in the fifth round I believe.. it was between him and Eddie Royal.. Braylon was a touchdown animal in 07.. one bad season.. it's not the end of him!

Since we're only allowed two QBs, I might drop Trent Edwards for Chad Pennington.

Tell me what you think!

Nice Team. I see that you took some boom or bust players like Cassel and Edwards. I gambled like that last year, I lost big time.

Very solid team non the less. You had the first overall pick?

This is my team from a league I joined two days ago.

Team name : Amsterdam Admirals

QB - Aaron Rodgers (Matt Hasselbeck)
RB - DeAngelo Williams, Brandon Jacobs (Jamal Lewis)
WR - Steve Smith, Lee Evans, Braylon Edwards (Kevin Walter, Muhsin Muhammed)
TE - Dallas Clark
K - Neil Rackers
DST - Eagles (Packers)

I had the 9th pick. DeAngelo fell because of a run on QBs. I think this draft turned out pretty well for me. Took the Packers defense as my sleeper and got Greg Jennings snatched away just before I picked.

Not bad, and yea I grabbed AP with the first pick.

There wasn't many QBs remaining.. I picked Cassel over Carson Palmer and Jay Cutler from what I remember. I'm not convinced Cassel will play like he did in NE now that he's a chief but I just need a decent game because I feel stacked everywhere else..

beast (8h) : Also why do both NYC teams have absolutely horrible OL for over a decade?
beast (8h) : I wonder why the Jets always hire defensive coaches to be head coach
Zero2Cool (18h) : Still HC positions available out there. I wonder if Hafley pops up for one
Zero2Cool (18h) : Trent Baalke is out as the Jaguars GM.
dfosterf (20h) : Jeff Hafley would have been a better choice, fortunately they don't know that. Someone will figure that out next off season
Zero2Cool (21h) : Aaron Glenn Planning To Take Jets HC Job
dfosterf (22h) : Martha- C'est mon boulot! 😁
Zero2Cool (22h) : Thank you
wpr (22h) : Z, glad you are feeling better.
wpr (22h) : My son and D-I-L work for UM. It's a way to pick on them.
Zero2Cool (22h) : Thank you. I rarely get sick, and even more rarely sick to the point I can't work.
wpr (22h) : Beast- back to yesterday, I CAN say OSU your have been Michigan IF the odds of making the playoffs were more urgent.
dfosterf (22h) : Glad to hear you are feeling a bit better.
Zero2Cool (23h) : I've been near death ill last several days, finally feel less dead and site issues.
Zero2Cool (23h) : It is a big deal. This host is having issues. It's frustrating.
Martha Careful (23h) : just kidding...it was down
Martha Careful (23h) : you were blocked yesterday, due to a a recalcitrant demeanor yesterday in the penalty box for a recalcitrant demeanor
dfosterf (23h) : Was that site shutdown on your end or mine? No big deal, just curious
beast (21-Jan) : That way teams like Indiana and SMU don't make the conference championships by simply avoiding all the other good teams in their own confere
beast (21-Jan) : Also, with these "Super Conferences" instead of a single conference champion, have 4 teams make a Conference playoffs.
beast (21-Jan) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : The tournament format was fine. Seeding could use some work.
beast (21-Jan) : You can't assume Ohio State would of won the Michigan game...
beast (21-Jan) : Rankings were 1) Oregon 2) Georgia 3) Texas 4) Penn State 5) Notre Dame 6) Ohio State, none of the rest mattered
wpr (21-Jan) : Texas, ND and OSU would have been fighting for the final 2 slots.
wpr (21-Jan) : Oregon and Georgia were locks. Without the luxury of extra playoff berths, Ohios St would have been more focused on Michigan game.
wpr (21-Jan) : Zero, no. If there were only 4 teams Ohio State would have been one of them. Boise St and ASU would not have been selected.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : So that was 7 vs 8, that means in BCS they never would made it?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : A great game. Give ND credit for coming back, although I am please with the outcome.
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : FG to make it academic
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : and there's the dagger
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooo 8 point game with 4 minutes to go!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooooooohhhhhh he missed!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Ooooo that completion makes things VERY interesting
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Game not over yet
beast (21-Jan) : Oh yeah, Georgia starting quarterback season ending elbow injury
beast (21-Jan) : Sadly something happened to Georgia... they should be playing in this game against Ohio State
beast (21-Jan) : I thought Ohio State and Texas were both better than Notre Dame & Penn State
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame getting rolled
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : Ohio State just got punched in the gut. Lets see how they respond
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame vs the Luckeyes, bleh
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Oh snap!!!
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : Even Stevie Wonder can see that.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : Nah, you see Lions OC leaving to be HC of Bears is directly related to Packers.
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ohhhhhhh Zero is in TROUBLE
packerfanoutwest (21-Jan) : Zero, per your orders, check Bearshome, not packershome
Zero2Cool (20-Jan) : Then he'll land with another team and flourish.
Zero2Cool (20-Jan) : Ben going to Bears. He'll be out in 3 years.
Mucky Tundra (20-Jan) : what's so funny?
Zero2Cool (20-Jan) : BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
