1. Greg Jennings comes first even over Donald Driver. I also think it would set a nice example to redo Jennings deal ASAP especially since he's is at OTA's.

As long as Driver is training I don't think it's a big deal that he's not there. Of course you'd want him there, but it's not going to ruin the year that he's not there. He knows the offense as well as anyone I assume.

Now this year with a new defense being installed, defensive players should probably be there, but the offense is the same.

As far as the contract. I think he's looking for one last big pay day. He's an aging player and he sees one more chance. I think the Packers should at least talk to him. They owe him that, but this sounds like someone who is trying to make this story bigger than what it really is. I'd be shocked to see Driver hold out of mandatory camps.

I agree. They should up Jennings contract right now. Reward him for being a team player and just walking into the facility while having a horrible contract as one of our best players. Let his good work ethic be rewarded.

And, if this is true, I think it's all about that last big pay day aswell. I asume he wants to get a lot of money right now, maybe this year, rather than later on. He's feeling the pressure with Nelson and Jones sitting behind him and I can imagine that he's thinking that this could be his last year. Same goes for Harris btw, although he's not aiming for more money.

you know now is about the time I am happy we have this large cap room.

So we can retain these guys if we want too. Although I cant see DD asking for more dough maybe more years (which to be honest we should give it too him).

This is most likely his last shot to make "good money" he knows he isn't getting any younger. To me he is still our 2nd best WR and a beast with the YAC. I am surprised if this is why he didn't show to OTAs and like most people said I wont believe it until Donald himself says something.

Read the above link and realize this is all baloney.

Don't let the media twist you on good people like Donald and Brett.

You know they are not trouble makers!

"In an email, Drivers agent, Jordan Woy, said Drivers contract is not at issue.

Donald is training in Texas, Woy wrote. It is not a mandatory camp and the Packers understand this.

Driver, after having his contract reworked in 06 and 07, is due to make $6.1 million this season and $7 million in 2010, the final year of his contract, between base salary and bonuses.

Drivers average salary per year ($6.6 million) for the length of his existing contract ranks second on the team, behind quarterback Aaron Rodgers ($12.7 million) and ahead of linebacker Nick Barnett ($6.57 million).

Driver was asked last week by WITI-TV Fox6 in Milwaukee whether he was happy with his contract.

"Oh, I'm happy," Driver said. "They always say when you get later in your career you go out there and do your best and hopefully you'll get what you deserve."

I would like to point out additionally the Wilde is the same reporter that noted the Collins would be sitting out regardless of his "personal" business even when Collins say directly saying different. Albeit it was supposedly the agent saying it...

If Driver is disgruntled and was using this as pressure, I would think it would be in his best interest to make it known why he was sitting out. Poor strategy if it is a sign that he wants the deal reworked.. unless he is scared of the public backlash.

Personally, if it is true.. the respect meter that I had for Driver took a bit of a hit.. he has gotten his deal reworked a number of times already. Now if he is comparing his deal to Fitzgerald or something.. he may feel underpaid... but it isn't like he is being disrespected at all.

Getting tired of the greed in this country.. when is enough enough? The "stick" measuring nonsense is ridiculous.

Jason Wilde gives me the impression of a writer who hates the Packers but is stuck writing about the Packers. He used to have a spot on a MNF Kickoff with William Henderson and always seemed to find something to complain about.

PFT speculates that it is the structure of the contract, not the amount.

He CAN make 5.9 mil this year, with incentives. He has no guarantee of anything.

I don't think it makes any sense for Driver to hold out, so I'm going to put this in the category of speculation for now.

IF he is planning to hold out for aforementioned reasons, seems like it would be quite easy to simply restructure his deal in order to guarantee more/some of the money.

As always, I choose to give Driver the benefit of the doubt until more details emerge. Just as I have too much love and respect for our Constitution to try someone in the court of public opinion, so also I have too much love and respect for the game to try these players in the court of "unnamed sources" absent any hard evidence. I refuse to give these fluff stories much weight. These reporters are just as bored as we are, and so giving us what we want -- something to talk about in the off-season -- nothing more. Therefore, we should regard these stories in that light.

That being said, I am watching the reactions of certain members of this forum with amusement. Some of the same members who were so quick to jump on Collins before the truth of the matter was revealed are rushing to make allowances for Driver -- despite an equal paucity of evidence one way or the other. Please, people, let's stop playing favorites. Either you trust these "unnamed sources" or you don't. Don't judge the merits of the story based on how much you personally like the player. That's just disingenuous.

For some reason, I'm not worried about Driver at all. I'm fairly confident that if he holds out, we'll be okay. It'll be tough with out him, but I think Jones and Nelson can pick up the slack.

If Driver held out, we'd probably promote one of our ever-growing stable of wide receiver prospects.

I'm surprised someone hasn't already said, "Wow, no wonder the Packers brought so many receivers into camp. They must have seen this coming!" 😉

beast (3h) : Seems like he was just pissed because he was no longer the starter
beast (3h) : Campbell is right, he's rich and he doesn't have to explain sh!t... but that attitude gives teams reasons to never sign him again.

Mucky Tundra (18-Feb) : I thought Guests couldnt post?
Zero2Cool (18-Feb) : And gosh that's gonna be fun to clean up! hahaa
Zero2Cool (18-Feb) : Oh. Why not just say that then? Geez.
Mucky Tundra (18-Feb) : check the main forum, seems a spam bot is running amok
Zero2Cool (18-Feb) : What?
Mucky Tundra (18-Feb) : Is the Packers online game "Packers Predict" now available for 2024? I can't tell
Zero2Cool (17-Feb) : Bengals planning to Franchise Tag Tamaurice Higgins
Zero2Cool (14-Feb) : Packers are hiring Luke Getsy as senior offensive assistant.
Martha Careful (12-Feb) : I would love to have them both, esp. Crosby, but either might be too expensive.
