One last thing on Raji and Pickett - dont expect either player to see much action at defensive end once the regular season begins. While both will take snaps there during the spring and summer, neither is a particulalrly good fit on the outside. Raji is athletic enough to hold his own at end, but why play him at his second-best position, asked the scout? If the goal is to get both big guys in the lineup at the same time, it would make a lot more sense to mix in a healthy dose of the 4-3 and let Raji and Pickett be Green Bays answer to the 'Williams Wall' in Minnesota. Minus the use of steroids, of course.

I am confident this is exactly what we're going to see.

Yeah me too, but I wouldn't mind seeing the occasional Pickett/Raji/Jenkins 3-4 against an obvious running situation. That's a monster line.

Imagine Kampy/Pickett/Raji/Jenkins.

I'm loving this. All the possibilities. I'm stoked about the 3-4 option, as it gives opposing OCs one more thing to worry about.

When we do put four hands on the ground the talent is far and away better than last year. We had Kampman as the only consistant rusher. We got a good game out of Jolly and Montgomery once in awhile but never consistantly and we NEVER got anything out of the RDE position.

Now you throw in Mathews coming from the blind side now and then with the OT having all he can do to handle Jenkins and it gets very dangerous out there.

Trickle in all the 3-4 options Dom will throw in and I can see doubling the sack total over last year, and more importantly, being able to bring pressure EVERY game and in particular at the END of games.

That's when no pass rush really reared it's ugly head and killed us. It was gut wrenching to watch mediocre QB's standing back there moving the ball into FG range KNOWING if we could get to him no way he could beat us and we couldn't get it done.

It was also pitiful to watch Sanders get schooled by opposing OC's having a blocker in waiting for every LB we sent. That's another thing Dom will bring that will be a welcome sight for sore eyes. Fooling the OL and getting an open shot at the QB. I cannot remember one time that happened last year.

Me too. I'm not sure why so many people like this guy think they're saying anything new with a quote like that. It has been stated by Dom Capers himself and others that we will still line up in a 4-3 alignment around half the time, maybe even more. So, unless you think they are lying, then yes, obviously that is what we are going to see.

The Packers are going to play their three best defensive lineman because they don't have another 3-4 pure DE on the roster. Unless they bring in a free agent, you'll see Pickett, Raji, and Jenkins playing on that three man line. They'll be a rotation, but I think that's the starting three.

Jenkins is cemented in at one of the DE spots so that leaves Pickett and Raji to compete for the NT. The better player will be the NT because it's more of an important position and the loser will be the DE. Both will spend time at NT this year, but GB is going to make sure their best lineman play the majority of the snaps.

I agree - although I would think dom will look to rotate other DE, NT guys in harrell, jolly and anyone else thats in the roster.

I really would like an update on jenkins chest and barnett's knee. Last I heard (and this was before the draft) both of these guys were having some issues with their respective injuries - especially jenkins.

I can't help but think people are REALLY expecting too much too soon from Raji.

Yes, he is the 9th pick. But he is a rookie, and a rookie DL to boot. They usually need a year to get adjusted to the NFL.

Right off the top of my head, Mario Williams and Sedrik Ellis are two D-Linemen that were less than steller in their rookie year.

I'm not saying Raji is going to be a bust (nor am I saying he's the next coming of Haloti Nagata), but I can't help wonder if people are setting themselves up for disappointment by expecting huge things from Raji in just his first year.

Also, I'm hoping out for contributions from Harrell and Jolly. Both, IMO, are essential to succes on along the front seven - Harrel is a great fit for DE in the 3-4. Although I'm referring about the 6-4 300 lbs. Harrell that got here when drafted, not the 320-325 lbs. walking wounded Harrell of the last couple of years.

As for Jolly, I've got a suspicion that he'll surprise people - I think he'll be asked to play as a DE/NT in the 3-4 base, will being a decent pass-rushing option as a DT in the sub packages. The more I think about it, the more I think the success along the d-line will depend a lot more on how Jolly fares than how Raji fares. I just don't see Raji being thrown out for 30-35 snaps a game as a rookie.
