I'd say, looking at those photos, that badger is deceased.......he is no more.......he has passed on......gone to his reward. He is an "ex" badger. :thumbleft:

I have a Badger story with no badgers in it, except a Wisconsin Badger. It is also the second time in my lifetime I have heard virtually the same statement.

I went on a guided tour of Niokolo (sp?) Koba state park in Senegal. It's the typical type tour you'd see on TV, everyone in Land Rovers, etc.

We saw lions, leopards, crocks, jackals, etc. Sort of late in the day we came across a mongoose, and this fat guy with his wife chimed in...

"Hey der, 'dese here Mongoose look kinda like 'da Badgers we got back in WisCONsin. I don't know what youse guys think, but 'dese here animals ain't shit when you start talkin' badgers"

(And next came the statement said in almost the exact same way I had heard it before, but it was beyond hilarious in this context)

"You don't fu#k with a badger, they will fu#k you up."

I howled. I absolutely howled.

(I had no idea they were from Wisconsin until that moment.)

Whoa boy!! That's a gonna be one p...... off Badger when he gets loose. We have Badgers out here around Missoula. (both the animal and human kind) A couple of years ago one (animal kind) was harassing people as they hiked on a favorite trail right near downtown Missoula. The Fish and Game trapped Mr. Buckey Badger, then didn't have a clue what to do with it. So one young smart-ass F&G guy says, and this is a true story btw,"Why don't we ship it off to Wisconsin? That's the Badger State, and they could probably use a few more."

His supervisor, who is from West Allis..he went to West Allis Hale and we are friends of he and his wife.....says to the young guy, "tell you what. You get it in a box, wrapped and taped without a scratch or losing 50% of your blood, I'll pay the postage. Then we'll send it to Bob Friaufs (that's me) brother in Milwaukee and put a note with it saying it's a birthday gift from Montana. That ought to send him over the edge."

I still laugh at that one.

I have lived in Wisconsin all my life (well......not all of it yet) and i have only seen badgers once. And thats considering we used to camp alot, and I'm a hunter. So i have spent countless time in the woods.
We were driving on a fire lane back to a dead end where we would always pitch a tent and camp. We came around the last turn, and there were THREE of them walking towards where we were gonna set up camp............needless to say.........we did NOT camp there anymore!!!
Thats the ONLY time i have seen badgers in the wild.

You are SO right! They are meaner then bears! And THREE of them at ONCE??? No thank you! Just knowing that "family" was living there was MORE then enough reason to say "No thanks, we will camp somewhere else!"

Now......i know the original post says the badger in the picture is still alive, but i highly doubt it. You can see where the blood came out of it's mouth, and was already dried up by the sun. The wires on those hay bales are tight, and that poor thing was crushed by it. There's no way that thing was still alive.

My son was out in Idaho a few years back taking AIT. (Advanced Individual Training for you non military types.)
One afternoon he was sitting on some steps outside his barracks after dinner talking to one of his many girl friends. He told her that a badger just walked through the parking lot.
She said (not too bright) "Oh I have never seen a real badger. Take a picture of him for me with your camera phone."
My son (knowing that you don't mess with badgers who are not bothering you) told her that he didn't think that would be such a good idea.
"OH PLEASE? yada yada yada."
My son decides to follow at a distance until he can get a picture of said badger. (not very bright idea.)
So he is walking thru the parking lot. The badger is now past the parking lot out in an open field. My son does not realize that he is UP WIND of the badger even though there is very little wind at all.
The badger turns and chases my son.
He was a cross country runner in high school. I think he out ran his best time and did so without warming up in boots holding his phone.
He gets to the barracks door, takes out his key card and swipes it through the keyless pad.
Red light.
He looks over his shoulder and the badger is still coming for him. He swipes the card again.
Red light. Badger gets closer.
Swipes the card again.
Red light.
Checks over his shoulder and the badger is almost to him. There is no place for him to run.
Tries to calm down and and focus. Swipes the card yet again.
Green light! Opens the door and slams it shut behind him.
Never did get that photo.
I think everyone going to Afghanistan or Iraq should be on the outside of a door with a badger chasing them before they head overseas! Excellent training.

Mucky Tundra (30-Jan) : Now that's a thought, maybe they're looking at the college ranks? Maybe not head coaches but DC/assistant DCs with league experience?
beast (30-Jan) : College Coaches wouldn't want that publicly, as it would hurt recruiting and they might not get the job.
beast (30-Jan) : I thought they were supposed to publicly announce them, at least the NFL ones. Hafley was from college, so I believe different rules.
Mucky Tundra (30-Jan) : Who knows who they're interviewing? I mean, nobody knew about Hafley and then out of nowhere he was hired
beast (30-Jan) : I wonder what's taking so long with hiring a DL coach, 2 of the 3 known to interview have already been hired elsewhere.
Zero2Cool (27-Jan) : Packers coach Matt LaFleur hires Luke Getsy as senior assistant, extends Rich Bisaccia's deal

Martha Careful (25-Jan) : some of those people are smarter than you zero. However Pete Carroll is not
Mucky Tundra (24-Jan) : Rude!
beast (24-Jan) : Martha? 😋
Zero2Cool (24-Jan) : Raiders hired someone from the elderly home.
dfosterf (24-Jan) : I'm going with a combination of the two.
beast (24-Jan) : Either the Cowboys have no idea what they're doing, or they're targeting their former OC, currently the Eagles OC
Zero2Cool (23-Jan) : Fake news. Cowboys say no
Zero2Cool (23-Jan) : Mystery candidate in the Cowboys head coaching search believed to be Packers ST Coordinator Rich Bisaccia.
beast (23-Jan) : Also why do both NYC teams have absolutely horrible OL for over a decade?
beast (23-Jan) : I wonder why the Jets always hire defensive coaches to be head coach
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Still HC positions available out there. I wonder if Hafley pops up for one
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Trent Baalke is out as the Jaguars GM.
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Jeff Hafley would have been a better choice, fortunately they don't know that. Someone will figure that out next off season
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Aaron Glenn Planning To Take Jets HC Job
