Here are some names I think could be called

At No.9

- B.J. Raji, DT, Boston College - Could play DE or NT in the 3-4. Very versatile and a somewhat Haloti Ngata type of player.

- Brian Orakpo, DE/LB - Hybrid pass rusher that is the closest thing to a Shawn Merriman in this draft in my opinion.

- Tyson Jackson, DE, Louisana State - Best five technique in the draft. Incredible run stopper.

- Michael Oher, OT, Ole Miss - Fits the Packers blocking scheme better than Andre Smith. Oher would start at RT and move to LT next year.

- Michael Crabtee, WR, Texas Tech - Best player in the draft that if fell would be that BPA type of guy Ted Thompson always talks about. Would open the door for James Jones getting dealt.

Round 2 and 3 guys to watch for

- Ron Brace, NT, Boston College - The big nose tackle that takes over for Ryan Pickett

- Cody Brown, DE/LB, Connecticut - Hybrid pass rusher that has gone under the radar.

- Larry English, DE/LB, Northern Illinois - Ted Thompson type of pick from a small school.

- Jarron Gilbert, DE, San Jose State - 2nd best five technique in the entire draft.

- Fili Moala, DE, Southern California - Another five technique, but he has first round talent. Underachiever.

- Michael Johnson, DE/LB, Georgia Tech - A lot of phyiscal attributes, but another underachiever.

- Coye Francis, CB, San Jose State - Decent Senior Bowl, but is the under the radar prospect that Ted often targets.

- William Beatty, OT, Connedcticut - Potential left tackle in the zone scheme.

- Ricky Jean-Francois, DE, Louisana State - The other five technique from LSU.

- Antonie Caldwell, OL, Alabama - Interior lineman that can play RT.

Two guys you overlooked, and whom I would be glad to have on my team, are Peria Jerry and Robert Ayers.

If we trade back in the first round, Jerry could be our DE pick. And Ayers MIGHT be available at 41.....I like him or Clint Simtin there.

I would love to have Raji. Imagine having Pickett at NT, Cullen Jenkins at RDE, and BJ Raji at LDE as our starting D-Line....

If it's a DE you're looking for, we might aswell go for Tyson Jackson (Just my opinion). The thing I like about Raji is him playing the NT. I really don't have that much trust in Pickett, big as he may be.

You still need that versatility though and that's what Raji brings to the table. Think Haloti Ngata in Baltimore. He's lined up at DE and NT for the Ravens. Raji could do that. There is a good chance Pickett is a good enough NT for this season and Raji is an upgrade over Jolly and Harrell at DE so that makes Raji worth starting opposite of Cullen Jenkins.

If Raji plays 40 snaps a game, it's likely that he'll spend time at both positions which is important. It keeps others fresh.

If you take Tyson Jackson you're getting a player who plays one specific position for one scheme and that's 3-4 DE. Not saying that's a bad thing as I really like Tyson Jackson and I think he's one of the ten best players in the draft, but he's one dimensional.

He is, but he reminds me a bit of Cullen Jenkins. I'm looking at it this way; you can put either someone in the mold of a Jenkins at DE, who draws double coverage with his rushing skills alone, let alone his amazing strength, or someone in the mold of a picket, who can really not do a whole lot more than let the pocket collapse from time to time and stop the run. I just don't think that Raji is a guy who can handle those extra feet he'll have to go to get alot of pressure from the outside. Although like you said, Ngata has proven me wrong on guys like him.

I like your Moala pick, I wanted him early in round 3 for quite some while now and I think it's very favorable for us that there hasn't been alot of buzz surrounding him.

One guy I am missing, and I might be gettin repetitive by now, is Clint Sintim. A great 3-4 OLB who can start opposite of Kampman. Maybe even take over his spot in a rotation when Kampman has to go out. He's the best pure 3-4 OLB, I think. As someone who doesn't blitz all the time.

beast (8-Aug) : But the Packers would have to use one for their return from IR spots on him, when they cut down to 53.
