The draft is like Christmas for NFL Teams.
The Wish List has been written to Santa, the presents are under the tree, and everyone wonders what they will get.
It is a happy time with every team's fans rejoicing.
Nobody is a loser on draft day!! Even Mike Ditka trading all his picks can feel like a winner.
It takes teams a couple of years to figure out their present isn't as good as other teams.
The only ones not happy are NFL players who hear that the #1 pick of the team is at their position; and maybe Aaron Rodgers and Brady Quinn who feel as if each minute is an hour.
It is the happiest day in the NFL. All fans are optimistic.
Even the eccentric Uncle Ted and his unusual suprise packages turn out to be good.
No fans are more stupidly optimistic than the vikings. Every year they believe their writers who say their 7th round pick is the seventh best player in the whole draft.
The weird thing I've noticed is all these great college players that get drafted every year change sometime between the draft and training camp. Those great players will have become dumb rookies.
It is an interesting phenomena.
Happy Times Fans!!
